I know I'm prob way off from being able to have it, but for the last two nights I have dreamt of eating it LOL
So curious as to when it's tolerated, I know it's a slider food so it would just be a minimum of a treat.

I first tried popcorn about 4 months out and it felt heavy.  In retrospect I would have waited longer.  If it is something you crave, I recommend staying away from it.

Hey fellow buckeye.  I'm off topic but I was looking at your numbers.  You are doing great!  Congrats.

I was cleared for all foods as tolerated after two months.  I could eat popcorn then, but I wouldn't recommend it until your sleeve is totally healed.  Think about all those pointy little husks that get stuck in your teeth -- I don't think they'd be conducive to a partially-healed suture line.

Popcorn works for me as a snack -- I don't count carbs, it's not a slider for me, it's high in fiber, low in calories and I buy the low fat kind.

If in doubt, ask your dietitian when you can include it in your plan.

I had it probably at about 3 months without problems. However, it is an absolute slider for me. Whether because I eat so slow or what, I could easily eat a huge amount of popcorn. Probably a small to medium sized movie theater bag. Not that pre or post op I'd ever eat that mess. I eat only air popped with light salt and black pepper. No oil. Not healthy but a decent, once a month snack when we're watching a movie.

I started eating popcorn at 2 months out or so. I also use it as a snack, though I do it fairly rarely. For me, although I can eat 4-5 cups of it at a time, I don't consider it a slider. I certainly become full on it, and when you think about the amount of room a chewed up cup of popcorn uses, it's not very much.

Give it a try and see what you think. What works for us may be different for you.

Well I will hold off for another month then and ask the dietician at that time.
Thanks for your answers.

My doctor instructs patients to stay on liquids for a month and gave as an example someone who ate popcorn in the first month and created a leak at the staple line.

So, probably holding off is a prudent decision!!!

Good luck, it is hard to resist some snack-y type foods at times although I don't have any hunger at all so far!!!

I was really missing having popcorn at the movies, but my NUT advised against it - mostly because of the fat and carb count. I compromised by getting "puffed corn" and buying some of the white cheddar popcorn flavoring. I take a quart-sized ziplock Baggie into the theatre with me :)

The puffed corn is in the chip aisle at the grocery. Can't remember the brand ...
