PLASITC SURGERY, BEFORE 18 MONS
Hi All,
I have been having a lot of pain from loose skin. I have lost 74.5 lbs, have 24 more to go. I called my surgeon and family Dr. this week because of the rash and pain. The nurse at the surgeon's office said normally they wait 18 months after WLS to remove the skin. She is going to look in to it for me because there might be a loop hole and get it done sooner. I am embarrassed to say it looks like I have 4 butts two on each side. I get so sore I can hardly walk sometimes and painful. My stomach hurts so bad were my skin hangs down, my sides of my tummy, sometimes I sit with my legs up to my knees that helps the pain I will be 10 months out the 2o th of Jan. Has anyone had surgery this soon? Are there any loop holes. I wear the tight garments to help hold the skin in place, does not help. I called my ins co and they said I did not have to wait just get go from the Dr's office and then they will decide. Thank you!
God Bless

Hey girlie! I had my surgery one day befor you and have some skin issues. I dont have a ton, but there is a fold that is right above my pubic region and it keeps getting a rash and has even left some scarring it got so bad. My Dr has been documenting it but says I will have to get to almost goal befor insurance will cover it. ((sigh)) By the way, You are not giving yourself enough credit.... you lost all that weight in under 9 months. The 20th will be your 9 month surgerversary not 10. So your doing even better than you thought! :)

Don't be scared. It depends on how you carried your weight. I'm down 150+ and I have wrinkly but no so much 'loose" skin and almost no panus. I carried my weight low -- hips/thighs rather than around the middle/boobs/arms. I'm planning on going down another 10-15lb then waiting 6 months to see how much things 'smooth out' as my weight redistributes in maintenance.
Didn't mean to scare anyone, sorry. I carried my weight in my hips, lower part of my body. I have been lifting weights so I wouldn't even think about have skin removed. I thought for sure lifting weights would fill the skin in with muscle. It hasn't. I will keep trying. I never dreamed that my skin would sag this much or have problems hurting. I was shocked too. Ol well, I still love my sleeve.I know the Lord will take care of me, give me the answer.

I have some skin issues too, and I am sure that they will get worse...
For me, the tight garments actually add to the problem, but I wear them anyhow to make me look better. I have to be SUPER carful with the skin fold on my tummy, I have two from the way I carried my weight... the regular pannus, which isn't TOO bad, and then another, even bigger, spare tire up above... at the first sign of anythign I have to put papertowel in there (SO GROSS, I KNOW!!!) but it keeps it from getting too bad and keeps hte pain away...
(((hugs))) sweetie.... it might be worth finding some other ways to deal with it til goal... that's my plan... i want to get the bast plastics results that I can...
