Forcing protein?

 Ok, so I am not even remotely hungry.  I am 13 days out from surgery, and at this point told to get in 82 grams pf protein a day.  Once I finish my Isopure that I don't feel like drinking I will still be 10 grams short for the day.  I know in the beginning when my goal was 40 I had to hit that minimum.  But now...?  Should I choke down the last 10 grams even though I am not hungry?

82 grams is a LOT 13 days from surgery. I worked my way up to 70 grams over a month.

My suggestion: do the best you can, "eat" (now on liquids and later) on a schedule to help you, but do not force those last 10 grams at this point. Work up to it.

Remember, though, that I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

I was leaning that way, but this is the first time I would deviate trom the prescribed program for me.  I just don't want to start down that slippery slope so early in the game, but dang I am not hungry.  I couldn't finish the morning shake so that is pulling me up short.

It is a fine balance. When you're not interested in "eating" it can be easy to skip meals and that's a problem. However, if you put yourself on a schedule but then can finish everything, that's when you shouldn't force yourself.

Today, for example, I hit my protein but didn't hit my 600 calorie minimum that I shoot for. However, I won't force myself to eat/drink more. I'll just have a better day tomorrow. It happens even 8 1/2 months out.

i'm also 13 days out and not hungry in the least.  i only have to try for 64 grams of protein right now and am having a hard time with that.  hard getting in all the water too.  working on it as best i can and trying to build routines into my schedule.

I would let it go.  I don't think I hit 60g. for about a full month so you are doing better than I did.  72 g. sounds like plenty at this stage to me.
