Keeping me accountable
So I'm 76 days from surgery (but who's counting) and I thought I'd post an accountability post. I didn't weigh in the entire holiday season. I last weighed in on December 5th at 237.8 lbs. I sorta jumped off the wagon after that but tried to be more sensible and keep up some of the exercise. It was hard since my husband was gone for most of it and I started working a part-time job. There were many "bad" decisions made but some good ones too. Anyway I weighed in today at 237.4. So over the month I lost .4 lbs. Now I'm sure I would have lost many more than that if I'd been more careful but I'm pretty proud of myself for losing a bit. I'm back on the wagon and headed to the gym. I've decided even though I don't love my community gym it does have an area for my kids to play and something is decidedly better than nothing. I have 76 days until surgery, my goal is to be at or below 230 when I go in. That is completely doable as my surgeon requires the 2 week liquid diet before hand, but I'd love to be even lower. I want to be as low as possible before so that I can reach goal at 6 months which gives me another 6 months of help with maintenence before life starts getting in the way. I'm terrified of maintenance!
So that was a lot of rambling but I figured if I got it out there hopefully it would help keep me on the straight and narrow.
Also, has any other woman thought of buying maternity jeans/pants to get more wear out of their clothes. I just figured maternity clothes were supposed to fit a wide variety of stomach sized and it might get more wear as we're losing weight. Just a thought.
If you're still here thanks for reading.

If you really want to be accountable, join an online tracker such as myfitnesspal or fatsecret (there are many more available but those are the two that come to mind because I know they both have apps for an iPhone or Droid). I use fatsecret and track everything that goes into my mouth. This helps me to make good decisions (cuz I know I have to log them) and track my calories, fat and protein. I highly recommend that you start this prior to surgery and then it will become second nature to you. It has for me and it really helps.
Never really thought about the maternity pants idea - but hey, whatever works for you! Congrats on your decision to change your life! I love my sleeve and hope you will too!!!

You must permanently change your lifestyle if you want your weight loss to be permanent. You can do it!
Oh I track everything in sparkpeople. But I'm the only one who sees it, so I just wanted to share where I was at publicly.

Congratulations on holding your own during the holidays! All I would say is do your best, and then accept the results. As long as you do your part, I'm sure you will do great whether you make it to goal in 4 months or 6 months or 8 months.
I don't think maternity clothes would work for me, since I carry my weight all over, and not just in my tummy. I know some people do.
You are doing great! Think about it this way....when was the last time you actually LOST weight over the holidays?? I'm sure you (and many of us) are gearing up to get back on track now that life slows down again.
I myself gained 4# over the holidays, but I asked myself that same question. Any other year it was a 30# gain! I also had surgery over that time so now I'm ready to saddle up the elliptical and ride off into the wild blue yonder!
Keep up the good work and remember this is a marathon not a sprint.
