Would you call this dumping?

Ok I was under the impression that as a VSG'r dumping wouldn't be a possibility, but I've had three experiences now that lead me to believe otherwise.

My first experience was when I had been eating something early on out in my soft food stage and I felt like I had something stuck a bit cuz there was a tightness (little did I know at the time that was my symptom of fullness.. a tightness in my chest) so I took a small sip of water, to help and immediately felt nauseated and my mouth got all watery. I ran to the bathroom as it felt like throwing up was inevitable but I ended up just sitting and spitting for a bit then I felt ok.

When it's happend the other times its been cuz I've eaten too fast, once I was sitting on the computer while eating half of a grilled chick burg (just the meat part) but I was eating it like finger food and and wasn't mindful of how quick I was eating it, so I think I missed those full signals til I got that extra couple bites in.. I know now that even one bite after the signals causes discomfort.

Then again tonight I was eating a taco and I felt kind of full so I rested a bit talking to my  5 yr old son watching him eat his third LOL  I had such a small amount left on my plate and it tasted soo good that I thought oh I've waited a bit I can prob eat that now.. NOPE!  Run to the bathroom again salivating like mad and feeling terrible. Nothing has ever come up but it sure felt like it would.

Sounds more like slimeing... Where you eat too fast.

Nope it doesn't...Sounds like eating to much for the sleeve and its exiting upwards leading to slimes and vomiting...

Definition for dumping...stomach contents are delivered too quickly to the small and exiting downward...hehe....

ah, so this is maybe what I've also heard referred to as "foamies" ?
I guess dumping also has a bunch of other icky symptoms and lasts a lot longer.

Sounds exactly like You are over eating, start weighing and measuring your food.
Put the fork down between bites, push the plate further back on the table.
Never take a sip of water it will make it worse.
Foamies and sliming are different.

Don't be fooled though, dumping is most definitely possible with the sleeve. I already experienced it once.

I'm 3 years out and if I get carried away with sugar/carbs, I still dump..It is no fun either, but you definitely experienced foamies....did that a few times too.

I measure and weigh my food for the most part but things like a taco are hard to figure out how much I could eat.. I know now though LOL
The eating fast is my biggest obstacle right now, and I was always the last one done at a meal, so I've always been a slow eater, but by post op standards I'm not

 NOPE....NOT DUMPING...NOT EVEN CLOSE!

May just need to take a step back in time....did you recently change up yer diet?  ya know our INFAMOUS PROGRESSIVE
TEXTURE DIETS!
STAGES  to promote healing   each 1-2 weeks   ???
1. clears (some not all),
2. full protein liquids,
3. mushies/purees,
4. soft foods
5. regular

Maybe hang out in your previous stage a few days-week or two more....this ain't a ONE
SIZE FITS ALL SURGERY!!  YOU gotta go at YOUR BODY's PACE, not yer heads,  not some VSG diet manuals, or what others here think ya outta!  Slow is OK!

Oh and YES VSGrs... CAN and DO DUMP....its just so very uncommon (So UNCOMMON...you more than likely will NEVER see a study/STAT on the incidence of it!)  and ...MAJORITY of surgeons STILL tell their pts...there is no incidence of it

.they're a changin tho last few years.......and reportin it MORE FREQUENTLY on their websites/brochures/comparison charts of the surgeries..... especially the better VSG surgeons... as they amend it to.......DUMPING IS "MINIMAL"

Oh and yeah...I DID have DUMPING!! lolol ..2, 4, and 5.5 months out...then NEVER AGAIN!   the VETs told ME too I didn't have it! There was no such thing in VSG too!........lmao!!  Hence my blog on DUMPING in VSG!
