These pre op days are tough.

I am being sleeved next Friday, and since last Monday, I have only had liquid protein drinks.  Muscle Milk, Isopure, Slimfast, Instant Breakfast.  I did slip and eat 1 asparagus and 1 small bite of pork chop this week.  I am terribly worried this will negatively impact me.

I am simply dying.  This is really tough for me.  I know it is necessary, but this 9 days protein, 1 day clear liquids is really trying.

I didn't even get to eat the night before I started this, as I was sick.  Family was taking me out for my birthday and I was going to have a steak (my fav which I know I can't really have for a bit once I have my sleeve) and I could not go bc I felt so badly.

Sorry for venting and seeming like I am having a pity party, because I do know this is the right thing and I do know this is what I want to do.  Thanks for listening.

Maybe you should try one of the protein shakes that are higher in protein count than Slimfast.  You can get chocolate and vanilla Premier Protein shakes at Costco and they have 30 grams protein in each shake.  You can get Nectar, Jay Robb and many other sampler packets at Vitamin Shoppe and GNC.  It sounds like you're not getting enough protein so you're miserable.  I hope it gets better for you soon.  I am just finishing mine and will be having surgery on Monday so only one more day of this diet.

The pre-op diet was really the hardest part for me. What are your guidelines? The only restriction I had was no more than 20 carbs. I didn't do the shakes, I ate all of the stuff I would not be able to eat after surgery. I have done Atkins a few times, but for some reason I was really hungry. Eggs, meat, fish, cheese, low carb yogurt. My goal was not to lose weight, but to shrink my liver. Your diet may be different.

Hang in there..the full liquid day is rough, but then it is done and you are on your way.

i had a HARD TIME with the pre op liquid diet thing. i got dizzy and felt so crappy. i contacted the RD who was part of my program and she altered the diet so it was tollerable. i still had a problem free surgery.
good luck, and congrats on your life changing adventure.

Hang in there.  Thus far, pre op was the hardest part for me.  You will be amazed post op at how much you are not hungry, how much you no longer eat, and all of a sudden portion sizes look enourmous!

My surgery is on Wednesday, January 11.  I have had 1 week of clear liquids.  The first 4 days were horrible.  I had the worst headache ever,  but it has finally settled down.  3 more days until surgery.  I hope I have the same experience as the rest of you with post-op being much easier.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I do feel better if I can tolerate the Muscle Milk or drink an Isopure (but they are super expensive so I try to only use one of those per day).

My doctor put me on 9 days of full liquids and then 1 day of clear. I presumed this meant only protein shakes and stuff of that nature for the full days.  Then 1 day of clear.

Do you think having that tiny bit of "real food" before I mentioned will hurt me?  Sorry to sound so newbish!
