They're going to think I'm dying for sure now

So I am a cancer patient, but was doing great with it before the sleeve surgery on the 19th.  Managed to not miss a day of work for the surgery and I was estactic that i would not have to compromise my instructional time.  Then the surgeon calls, Mohs surgeon that is (cancer).  The two biopsies he took both came back melanoma and now I need more sugery and I have to miss a couple weeks to recover.  If you listen closely no matter where you live you can hear me cursing right now!

Anyway, I didn;t share at work what was going on since nobody saw me miss work.  Now I have to miss work and they will all associate the weight loss with the cancer.  I SO do not want to tell people at work, but I do not want them worrying either.  Melanoma sucks, but it was again caught super early and the prognosis is just fine.  ugh.

Oh.  And I am constipated as hell.  Having a rough night here, but at least the weather is fantastic!

Oh my goodness...I am sorry about your diagnosis, thank goodness it was caught early! Have you tried MiraLax for the constipation? It mixes well with any drink and you can't taste it. From what I remember it is not habit forming either. As far as your co workers go, I guess I am on the fence about whether you need to explain anything to them or not. I guess it depends on how comfortable you feel sharing your personal info with them. I don't think any explainations are required when it comes to your personal life. On a side note, I am sending out well wishes to you!

Been taking 2 colace a day and this morning added in a dose of Miralax.  If nothing by tomorrow morning double dosing the miralax.  I had no idea that some stool softners were habit forming- yikes!  I am looking forward to adding some fiber in the diet!

Sorry about your diagnosis. :(  Sounds like healthwise you'll be fine, thank goodness!  You'll be in my prayers.

I used MOM for the constipation I had a week after surgery to blast the stuff out of me.  I've been doing fiber gummies 2x a day for maintaining, along with Smooth Move tea as needed - both great suggestions I got from other here.  Once I got to the regular foods phase, things got much much better as I eat more fiber.  Good luck!

well as much as you are going through right now, you seem to have an amazing attitude!  i've been very involved with cancer survivors and their families (my mother in law passed away from uterine cancer and father in law is a prostate cancer survivor) and know that attitude is definitely an important thing!

sorry you're going through all this AND recovering from the sleeve surgery.  although the constipation is horrible, it will get better!
