So my surgery is tomorrow at 7 am.  Today I am doing clear liquids only, and I am starving...

I was wondering once I have my sleeve, the first week is clear liquids.  How in the world am I supposed to get my protein in? Am I missing something?

I believe you just add unflavored protein powder to chicken broth etc.

There is a RTD clear liquid protein drink called Isopure (found at GNC/Vitamin Shoppe) - that was considered a clear liquid by my surgeon.  It comes in fruity flavors - grape, fruit punch, etc.  My recommendation is that if your plan allows for this you make a mixture of 1/2 Isopure and 1/2 same/similar flavor crystal light and mix them together over ice (the colder the easier to get through the taste I found).  It's not the most pleasant thing on the planet but I found it's not the worst.

You have a full week of clear liquids?  Mine is 48-72 hours clear liquids (while still in hospital) then switches to full liquids for 2 weeks.  Then mushies for 4.

I saw we had the same surgeon Vacationlover. I tried to add you as friends to talk but the site was being wonky or something!

Yes, a full week of clear liquids.  I did order some unjury but it hasnt arrived yet.  I have been drinking one pre made isopure each day already so if that is cleared as a clear liquid, then I am golden.

I talked to another friend who is post op Dr. Jones 4months and she said that the first week its really about making sure you get enough liquid and thats why they had us do 9 days high protein liquid prior.  I will def talk to the NUT.

So nervous!

I had the first week of clears only .
Then add protien at 7 days after surgery.
You need to concentrart on liquids mostly right after so you don't get dehydrated!!! Don't worry about protien until day 7 .
It won't be as hard after surgery as it is now. You won't be as hungry.
Good luck!!!!

Isopure and also nectar protein powder mixes with water. I mix in crystal lite single serve packs in as well (seems to improve the taste in my opinion).

I had 3 weeks clear liquids. I did get some protein in but not nearly enough. My doctor said not to be concerned, it will come. The most important thing is to stay hydrated.

Good Luck

I hope you bought Unjury chicken soup, cause that is a awesome source of protein.  I boast the taste a little with a no sodium chicken bouion cube.  It's nice and warm on my new tummy too!  Also, when your full liquid, Unjury chocolate shake protein & skim milk is great not chalky tasting.  I also bought Trader Joe soups, Butternutt Squash & Tomato & red pepper, add unflavored protein in them and they are delish too!  Good Luck!
