POLL: Do you take calcium/D3? What is your favorite form?
I order the liquid calcium citrate, magnesium, with d3 (all in one) from puritan's pride.
It comes in strawberry or blueberry flavors.
The strwaberry is way too sweet but the blueberry is good.
It does have 4 carbs in it so I count it into my carb intake daily.
I like this the best since you are taking all three supplements in 2 tbsp. And the magnesium keeps me regular!
Vit d-1,000 IU
Calcium citrate- 1,200 mg
Magnesium- 600 mg

I track the calcium I get from my food, then supplement with BA chewy bites to reach 1500 mg per day, more or less.
I also take a gummy Vit D3 that I get from Vitamin Shoppe, called Rainbow Light. About a year before surgery, my PCP advised me to start taking D, so this is the one I landed on. It's 1000 units per gummy, and I was taking 2-3 per day. Then just about a month ago she advised me to cut back on my Vit D by half, so apparently this one is pretty good!
I don't track the calories, carbs, fat, etc, from my vites and supplements, except for the chewy bites which I post on SparkPeople so I can track my calcium, and they're 15 calories each. I figure vites and supplements are doing me much more good than harm, calorie-wise, and during my losing phase I needed the calories for actual food.
I take a chewable iron, chewable multi, BA calcium chewy bites, gummy D3, and a teaspoon of fish oil per day, all of whicih have some caloric value that I don't worry too much about.

I use Now powdered calcium twice a day in my shakes (the person *****commended it to me drinks it in coffees). I switched to this because of the carbs in the chews. HOWEVER, when I'm adding a few carbs and calories the chews are one of the first things I'll add back in because it's a treat.
I take separate D3 in a pill.

Found this article comparing calcium carbonate to calcium citrate informative:

Also, my NUT said the body can only absorb about 500mgs at a time of calcium and to wait about two hours or more between doses. In fact, she advised me to wait a couple of hours between when I take any of my supplements.
I use the Walgreen's brand of the Calcium (carbonate) soft chews with Vitamins D & K. Have one after lunch time and another one before bedtime as chocolate treats. A bag of 60 chews is about $7 (in my part of the World).
The Walgreen's cherry flavored liquid multimineral and multivitamin supplement I'm taking has 100% of the daily Vitamin D in it so the extra D is a bonus. Had to take the huge prescription Vitamin D supplements last year because my Vitamin D level was at 17. From what I've read on medical sites, low Vitamin D levels are common in overweight people and they don't know if the weight causes the low level or if the low level causes the weight.
Also take a B12 and Iron supplement.
Doing my first lab Monday so will see then if what I'm doing needs tweaking.
