Different Food Issues Today
I am 24 days from surgery. Everything is going very well except for one incision that split open -Dr has me on antibiotics so hopefully that will solve the problem.
I am down 44 lbs as of this morning
I have been eating solid food for a week-mostly protein, eaten very slowly and chewed thoroughly. I have been very satiated and my restriction definitely does not le me eat more than 4oz at a time
UNTIL today -I feel like I have been eating all day and if I wasn't posting now. Would be back in the kitchen grazing. I don't understand what is happening Today I had 48oz of clear liquids (water and iced green tea) and 11/2 cup of coffee this morning
I ate the following today:
8:30 am -1/4 cup Special K with Almonds (dry -chewed very well), one cup pumpkin coffee with non-dairy coffee mate
12:30 pm. 4oz of corned beef, 1/2 slice rye bread, one slice Swiss cheese, 1/2 cup coffee with one packet o sugar and one creamer
4:30 pm. Slice of Irish Soda bread with margarine
7:30pm. 3oz corned beef, 1/2 slice rye bread, one slice Swiss cheese
11:00 pm. 8 Reduced Fat Nilla Wafers
12:00am -one slice Irish Soda Bread
Has a binge happened to anyone else? I feel helpless to stop I am sipping ice water now(probably due to all the salt in the corned beef) but mentally I want to keep eating. It is frustrating because of my head hunger and my inability to control myself and stop!

I forgot to mention that my dr limits me to 2- 2.5 oz meals 4 times a day.Even if I'm still hungry I don't eat more than that. Your loss is really good for 24 days though so you must be doing something right for your body if that's all post surgery loss... but that might slow down soon.
I have been doing Isopure drinks and getting 70gr of carbs. Haven't had a day like today since surgery -
Tomorrow is a new day and I am committed to getting on track -back to Isopure, scrambled eggs, mushy foods and lots of water
But today's binge was scary and nothing "bad" happened. Had a nice day -slept in, shopping , watched the Giants win.
I feel sick to my stomach and my incision is really hurting -took Tylenol Liquid
Just a tough day -not worth this feeling or the guilt. Have to do better tomorrow -losing 44 lbs has been terrific but I have lots more to go
Thanks for your help -

Wow that is a lot of carbs. I hope you won't have negative consequences. I get the munchies too. Whan that happens I try to get on my treadmill, take a shower, watch a favorite tv show or ANYTHING that keeps me out of the kitchen. My weakness is olives, pickles, peppers. Try very hard for victory over the binging, and if you fall get back on the horse and back to pureed foods and soft proteine. Good luck to you.
At the risk of sounding harsh, you are making some really poor choices here. I'm almost 4 months out and I wouldn't go NEAR that kind of food. Not for the sake of restriction, but the sake of carbs, calories and sodium.
24 days out you should be eating yogurt, pureed meats and meat salads, protein shakes to up your protein for the day, eggs, soft beans, etc. Breads? Nilla wafers? Hard cereal? Almost everything on your list for the day is carbs carbs carbs and very little to no protein. Protein isn't just a tool to help you stay full longer-- your body NEEDS it or it will eat your muscle to get it. Your heart is a muscle, remember.
Curb these bad habits now, or you're in for a very rough road ahead of you. Cut the bread out. Don't even touch the stuff for months. Your sleeve is incredibly new and will still be healing weeks from now. Take it slow, measure out your portions and make sensible choices based on protein only at this point. Search these forums for Mushy or Pureed stage food ideas. Please correct this now, for your sake!

wouldn't the special k, bread and wafers be like a 'slider food' and i am not sure if you drink your coffee with your meal that might cause the food to go through even faster and make you hungry quicker? just speculating... not sure.
I have days where I feel like I could eat all day, I think that is normal. However, I TRY to find something to do. As for your food choices, I think you could find better choices. I don't know what kind of plan your nut has you on, but my nut has me on a high protein/low carb plan. I try to stay under 30-40 carbs a day. I would definitely take out all of the bread for at least six months since that is the time in which you lose the most weight and add in protein. For the Nilla wafers, if you are craving sweet, I would add in a protein bar or greek yogurt. The protein will keep you fuller longer than all of those carbs. My philosophy is that I have to get away from all the things that made me fat in the first place (breads, pasta, soda, ice cream). I'm by no means a saint when it comes to my diet, I cheat...more than I should....but even when I cheat I still make better choices than what my former self would. Anyway, congrats on the 44 pound loss, that is fantastic with just being 24 days out :). If you need anyone to talk to feel free to message me on here. Good luck in everything!
