Question about fainting?

I have a question, I am 4 1/2 months out. Today was the first time in my entire life that I have ever fainted. I really don't remember it , my kids said I stood up and said I feel dizzy, then I passed out and fell onto the sofa. It took my a few minutes to wake up, but I didn't remember anything that happened. Has anyone ever have this happen to them?

Thanks

i'm only a week out but i was feeling faint and dizzy my nut told me to add 4 oz of apple juice because it might be a sugar issue. but i don't know you might want to consult your doc in your case to see what's causing it

I've read on this board that some people who take blood pressure meds found that their blood pressure has gone too low due to weight loss.

Even if that's the reason or not for that matter, you should do a follow up with your doctor asap to find out what it is.

I have had some issues with dizziness especially at a couple months out. Mine was low iron, so they put me on iron pills. They have seemed to help.

I am a lifelong fainter. Did you stand up quickly? You may have experienced orthostatic hypotension, where your blood pressure can't keep up with your sudden change in posture. If I have low blood sugar, and I stand up too quickly, I will faint every time!

I passed out two weeks ago getting out of the shower.  Went to the surgeon and my BP was 88/66, so they took me off all my BP meds.  I only lost 25lbs when that happened, I thought I'd have to loose much more than that for my BP to drop.

I have been a fainter for as long as I can remember. I faint when I throw up. It has gotten worse since surgery. I have to be really careful not to eat too much. Also my blood pressure has gotten low so if I stand up too fast I get dizzy. Dr. told me to take L-Carnitine and it seems to have helped.

this concerns me.  i have a 'fainting' phobia.  never have fainted in my life and don't want to ever experience it either.

i wonder if it has something to do with your vagus nerve?

i suppose that depends on if you take blood pressure pills, even being a short time out of surgery seems to affect your BP pretty fast.   i wonder if it has something to do with not having as much as a stomach.  it's like people who get off their diabetes meds right after surgery.  like your body changes metabolically.

will have to do some research on this.  i hope you can fix your problem, i truly feel for you.  it's scary to me!
