Protein drinks - blech

I can't take the taste of protein drinks anymore... they seem to get stuck.  I've tried every powder - online and from the store - liquid and more.  I've mixed with fruit, coffee, etc., and they are making me gag... I've tried Muscle milk Light, Slim Fast, name it... blech...

any suggestions for replacement?  I dread getting them down... do you think it's psychological?

I have heard Unjury is a good one but I have not tasted it for myself to know my opinion on it

I use Unjury, I'm currently drinking chicken soup. They advise not to mix above 130 degrees or it will curdle (this is true!!) I mix mine with hot tap water and then add to boiled water & temper the 2 and it mixes perfectly. I mix the Unjury chicken soup with a bouillon cube. The unflavored Unjury mixes well with almost anything, I like it with tea (if you notice a theme at the moment I'm on clear liquids). If you goto Unjury website you can order a sample pack and they will also send a thermometer & a mixing bottle. I would highly suggest trying it.

The same thing happened to me so I spoke to my surgeon and he said I could move on to soft proteins, ie cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.  I did find I could tolerate the Unjury Chicken Soup and the Unflavored if I mixed it with soup or made my own smoothies so I could control the sweetness.

It's a dilemma for sure.
Prior to WLS I used protein drinks on and off for years but not daily
and they didn't bother me.
I think if you eat anything daily you get sick of it.
I have a hard time getting enough protein in without a daily protein shake
but they were starting to make me physically nauseated so i took a break from them.
I have tried umpteen brands but it doesn't make any difference, they all taste like s to me and get stuck in my throat.
I just ordered some of the new Isopure SMOOTHIES (not the regular Isopure drinks which are horrid IMO) because I heard they taste good but really taste is very subjective.
Also how much Greek yogurt and tuna can one eat before bleck you can't eat anymore?
Variety seems to be the key for those of us who cannot tolerate eating the same things every day.

Thanks so much for all your thoughts about this.  I'm finding if I do not use a protein shake, I do not get enough protein in as I'm in meetings most days... all day and hard to get small meals in between meetings.  Also, I'm finding that if I do not use a protein shake, I'm over in my calories or carbs... eeek!!

I agree, variety... i'm just SO tired of the aftertaste.  I'm so wanting my sleeve to be a success, that I'm trying to figure this all out.

Thanks again for your input and support!!

Have you tried EAS Carb Control? I use that one as on the run meal replacement. After a while they do get to be nasty. I blend it with ice sometimes and add a little instand decafe as a mocha..i like it like that..
