Oatmeal left me starving!

I've been trying to switch up my food lately, and decided to have high protein oatmeal for breakfast this morning.  I ate about 3/4 of it at 6am.  I had my normal skim latte that morning.  By 9am I was starving, and by 10am I was jittery.  Stupid oatmeal.  Does this happen to anyone else with oatmeal?

Are you carb sensitive? I haven't tried oatmeal since my surgery because I noticed before that it made me crave carbs later in the day when I had it for breakfast. It's too bad, I love oatmeal!

For me, carbs in general leave me feeling that way.  Especially if I eat them without dense protein.

Trial and error - sounds like it helped you understand that oatmeal makes you feel ucky.  Sorry about that.  If you really want to eat it, then maybe pair it with some egg or sausage?

I haven't eaten it since surgery but my fiance and i used to eat it regularly before and both of us agreed at a certain point that 1 hour after eating we were starving.  I did sort of an impromptu survey of my friends and when they thought about it they agreed.  Very strange because it seems like it would stick like glue to the stomach its so heavy and thick. It definitely stimulates the hunger gene in me, we gave it up.

What made it high protein....did you add protein powder to it?

I agree.....it also depends on the type of oatmeal.  Regular oats always made me hungry quickly pre-sleeve but steel cut oats stayed with me most of the morning.

However, I doubt oatmeal will be a part of my diet now.

It's interesting how different everyone is in how we react to food. Oatmeal has always filled me up and left me satisfied until lunch. I've had it once or twice since surgery and both times I was only able to eat a very small amount, less than I can eat of yogurt, and was full. Perhaps it is a sensitivity of yours. I know that cabbage makes me stall, weird, I know.

I have the opposite problem. Oatmeal fills me up for a long time. I like the Quaker's Weight Loss Oatmeal in Banana Bread and Maple flavor. I can only eat half and it holds me until lunch.
