I NEED ADVICE!
Lots of good advice above. Compression socks, walking during flight, stay WELL hydrated (hard to do on a long flight, harder after surgery I would think), Lovenox (very expensive injections, btw...gave them to my daughter when she had a clot post surgery). There's no easy answer. Weigh the risks and consider a temporary postponement based on your analysis of ALL the facts you can gather.
I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you deliberate and move forward one way or the other. Good luck!!

A family member that is coming with me for my surgery was scheduled to have surgery 8 days prior to mine, but she was told by her surgeon that he does not recommend her flying due to blood clots. I'll also mention that our flight time is 50-60 mins. Not only her surgeon, but her PCM mentioned concern about blood clots. So, she moved up her surgery to 3 weeks before mine.
Honestly, this is an issue. I am not sure if anybody can give you advice on this. The bottom line is that flying right after surgery increased your chance of blood clots. That is for real. Also, having more than one abdominal surgery close together also increased your chances. The hormones your daughter was injected with doesn't help. Would it be enough to make me reschedule, I honestly can't say. It is something to think about. Is there any harm in waiting an extra month? Maybe that is the best solution.
