How much protein is too much, how much water should I have?
So, this probably belongs in the excercise and fitness boards, but I'd rather put it here :)
On my workout days (usually one hour of cardio, or one hour of yoga + one hour cardio, or one hour weightlifting class + one hour cardio), I have been having 90-131 grams of protein. I strategically place a lot of that protein before and after my workouts. What is the safe maximum level of protein for a person doing my level of workouts?
And, I've heard that protein can dehydrate you. I have 64-80 ounces of water/decaf/flavored water a day. How much should I be having, given how much protein I'm consuming?
Thanks!

Your protein sounds good to me. It could probably even go a bit higher, but if your labs are good, then you're good to go.
Exercise and you sweat. Exercise and you tear muscle that needs fluid for repair. Exercise and you lose your glycogen store that needs fluid to be rebuilt. I'd say up your fluid intakeon your workout days to 100 oz or more. The extra fluid also helps move the protein through your kidneys better. I'm sure there's a point of "too much fluid", but I know I've never been near it!

I have not had the VSG yet however my protein intake was around 120 grams daily. I went to see the NUT as a requirement for insurance to have my surgery and she told me that even with working out I should not have anymore than 60grams daily
. I was a little shocked because I have always maintained a high protein diet especially when I workout pretty hard.

That doesn't make sense to me. Did she say why?
I have a "normie" NUT and a lot of what she says applies to "normal" people, even though she works with us bariatric patients. So she wants me eating all these carbs and I flat out said no. I'm carb sensitive and that doesn't work for me.
So, take the NUT stuff with a grain of salt and make sure it makes sense and seems in line with what's logical.

She said she used a chart and according to my height and weight I only need a maximum of 60 grams. I will definitely take her with a grain of salt on the protein because I have been doing high protein diets for a while now. I have built up a lot of muscle in my body. Now I can't wait to shed the fat so my muscles can show
.

Wow, 60 seems low to me...
As a postop, they originally told me to get at least 60. My 6 month labs indicated that I needed more protein, so they told me to get AT LEAST 70 a day. When I last saw the NUT a few weeks ago, I was around 80-100 grams, and they were ok with that...

I am only about 2 1/2 weeks out. I was told to get min of 65g protein (I am getting in 70-80 a day) and at LEAST 64 oz water. You are much further out than me, so idk if this would be the same in your case. I also have not been cleared to exercise yet so when I do add exercise, I may have to up my liquid intake.. sorry I couldn't be of more help.
