Yay!  It's the weekend.  I LOVE weekends.  It's my escape from my job, which I love dearly, but it's pretty stressful.  And I am always on call due to the nature of my work so I do get bugged on weekends every once in awhile but it's not too bad.

B: 5 oz black cherry greek yogurt
L: inside of a bacon & cheese angus snack wrap
S: coffee w/creamer
D: not sure yet!  maybe some chicken wings or a grilled chicken salad before we see the movie Safe House tonight

water: 3/4 done
vitamins: done
exercise: will walk the dogs in a few minutes

I am venturing away from my beloved once-a-day protein shake in an effort to get all my protein from food.  It's an adventure to figure out how to balance it all and still stay within my calories.  My nectar shake is such a security blanket at 23g protein for 0 carbs and 90 calories.  Will see how things go.

Don't fret too much about the shake thing. As long as it's not causing you to eat excess food due to "going right through you", there's not a problem with it. Doctors only urge us to get away from them because most people have a tendency to eat after drinking one, since it doesn't provide a feeling of fullness. People who aren't on a diet or trying to lose weight still drink protein shakes for breakfast as part of their workout regimine. Bottom line, only you know your habits. If it's working for you, keep doing it. It's certainly not going to hurt you.

Due to a really indulgent French meal last night, I am up a tiny bit to 105.6 today.  This means that I am a bit more careful with my food.

B: The usual, lite mocha with chocolate soy slender, 45 cals. and two hard boiled eggs with two wedges of lite Laughing Cow cheese.  230 cals.

L: One small soft taco:  About 250 cals.

D:  Homemade Middle Eastern soup with chicken breast.  About 150 cals.

That's about 700 cals.  I will probably have another 100-200 cals. in snacks that I haven't decided on yet today.  No matter what, I am staying under 1,000 cals today.

It's my first day on pureed and soft foods!  Definitely surprised at how little I could put in my stomach.  I was just at the bariatric support group meeting and understand why the dietitian recommends eating a small amount every three hours!  Here's what I've had so far today with about three hours in between each serving.

Protein shake -- 20 g of protein powder in 8 oz of skim milk
1 1/2 oz of low fat cottage cheese
Another 1 oz of LF cottage cheese
Remaining 1 1/2 oz of cottage cheese. (Finally finished the container.)

Planning on 2 TBL of plain hummus in a couple of hours

For dinner I'll have some soup with soft chicken.

Water:  half done
Vitamins: done
Exercise: one hour of Tai Chi this morning; 20 minutes of water exercise

Thanks for sharing your protein shake journey... when did you back away from them?  It feels a little scary to me, so maybe I will try it for a few days and if it doesn't feel right, then I'll go back to them.

Thanks!  I think I will try the grilled & ready chicken breasts... sounds like something really easy and instantly ready.
