No ticker so I don't know what you total progress has been like, but we had surgery at almost the same time. I've been following my surgeon's recommendation and getting 70 - 80 grams of protein a day and 64 oz. of water. My calories are usually a little under 800. I exercise almost everyday and my net calories - food calories minus exercise calories - based on the app I'm using are around 550 a day.

You just need to find your groove. I don't like the shakes either, though I do have one mixed with water and juice every morning. It really helps to track your food. I use Lose It on my phone. Once I'm around dinner time I can check out what I have already had and see if my calories are running on the high side, or if I need more protein.
My first meal of the day is vanilla protein powder mixed with 5 oz. water, 3 oz. of Trop 50/50 orange juice, and stirred w/ice. Once that is down I have a Laughing Cow minibabybel...a little round cheese. I like the bonbel flavor the best. That gives me 28 grams of protein and 199 calories.
Later in the morning I have a Starbucks tall skinny latte which is 9 grams of protein and 90 calories. Pricey on a daily basis and I should find an alternative, but so far all my attempts at making coffee that doesn't suck have failed. Protein coffee didn't work for me and neither did sugar free creamer, stevia, or regular coffee w/SF syrup. Post op I find regular coffee tastes sour, but the espresso in milk w/SF syrup is yum.
After that it changes up. For meals I usually have 2 oz. of some protein w/a few bites of veg. A regular one I do for lunch is a small albacore tuna pouch (2.5 oz) with a little mayo and some seasoning which I eat in a couple of lettuce leaves, or scoop up with cucumber slices. The tuna by itself is 88 calories and 20 grams of protein. Honestly I usually have to break this up and have it as a first and second lunch.
I often cook dinner, but we go out a fair amoun too. Most recently at home I did a sautee of chicken breast, onion, zuchinni and cherry tomatoes which I seasoned w/salt & pepper, garlic powder and dried basil. It was very yummy. I just fish out my chicken first and then add some veg. At restaurants I focus on protein and veg may, or may not be in the picture. Yesterday DH wanted to go to a casual dining place and I ordered a burger w/no bun and subbed fresh fruit for fries. I ate my meat first and then still fit in 2 grapes and a little pineapple chunk. :) 2 oz. of chicken breast would give you 13 grams of protein for 55 calories, 80/20 beef would be 14.6 grams for 154 calories.
The rest is snacks. Beef jerky ranges a bit, but the snack pack I have says 100 calories and 18 grams of protein. I have some Quest protein bars that are 10 grams for a half a bar and run around 85 to 100 calories. I like cheese, but since I do that in the morning I don't use it for a snack much. I do have some pepper jack slices that are 5 grams of protein for 70 calories. And I like nuts but they are no bargain calorie wise for the little bit of protein you get.

Are you using any kind of a tracker?? I use MYfittnesspal.com it is free and easy.
It is best if you are tracking . That way you can see how many carbs and how much prtien you are really getting.
You might just need to tweak what your eating once you see how many calories, carbs and protien you are getting.
Did your Dr's plan have you at a certain amount of calories, carbs and protien??
