Pre-Op Diet

Hi guys,How is everyone doing? Well I'm on my pre-op diet and so far i have been doing really well as far as sticking to my two shakes and eating my meat with just veggies or a salad...I can't have no bread, rice, pasta, no junk and that's fine.I've been on a roll even walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator to try and get some exercise in.I have my pre testing tomorrow and i weight myself at work low and behold i lost some more weight already.Even though I've been doing good,Today however i was so hungry,I've never felt that hungry before.I ended up eating a bagel with cream cheese and i feel bad that i did especially since I've been on such a roll,My question is when you did your pre op diet did you have something that you wasn't suppose too?
I did. I was on the OptiFast pre-op which is all liquid shakes and one protein bar (that was disgusting so I never ate one) I did "cheat" and have a plain hamburger patty with nothing on it and felt sooooooo guilty and was sure that it would still be in my stomach at surgery! I'm not sure it was - he didn't say anything. I think we're human and can only make one decision at a time - good or bad. SO you can make a different one next time and let this one go. Hang in there! You're really doing great.

Thank you so much,I think that i was having a little freak out moment,I think the closer my day gets near the more everything little thing makes me worry.Your right today was a small mistake,I can just move on to tomorrow.Your right about one thing i did feel really guilty after i ate it....lol
Hey I am on my pre-op Iiquid diet too, haven't had anything solid yet but my daughters softball team went to California Pizza Kitchen for a fundraiser and I got a Mango Smoothie - Prob not what the Dr. had in mind when he said "liquid diet" but I don't feel too bad. It was prob ALOT of sugar but at least it was still liquid:)
It is strange, I am not as hungry as I thought I would be - I had a migrane from carb detoxing for the first day and I was foggy-brained until Sunday evening but since then I have been feeling good & I have lost 10lbs since Friday. I hope I didnt just jinx myself, I keep waiting to be starved.

You are soooooo right about that sugar withdrawl is no joke...I was fine the first few days however today im having the headache from hell....You right i had the bagel today and its time to move on....However for some odd reason i was feeling rather guilty.
You must forgive yourself and move on by refocusing. You and I are similar size (nice to meet you btw!) and our surgeries a week apart (im 3/19), so Im in the liquid diet/low cal phase as well. So far Ive managed to think about nothing but how hungry I am! It takes time to undo the way of eating I had before making this decision......and I guess it's going to take time for the hunger, desires, and cravings to go away. I cant go thru this phase and the one after surgery without knowing how to love myself enough to forgive my mistakes. I think this phase of the journey....this preop diet phase....as the mini prep and hands on practice run I need for the reality I will need to face after the surgery. It's not easy or fun or painless, but it's helping me understand me and the process.
Good luck to you! I am behind you with all my support!
