Congratulations on having the Bod Pod done. It sounds like you are not a small frame, so 105 lbs, isn't realistic or even desired. I really think that body composition testing and how you feel are more important than a number on a scale, although, I do struggle with this, too. You may also have some loose skin that figures into your total weight.

The term "skinny fat" is something that my trainer talks about. It is being very skinny, but without very much muscle mass. Do you want to be skinny with no muscle mass? It really isn't very healthy, since muscle is very metabolically active and helps to keep our metabolisms operating. Plus, skinny fat, places us at a higher risk of osteoporosis.

Body composition is a moving target and is influenced by our diets, genetics, exercise, and probably a host of other factors.

Have you done any food tracking to find out, exactly how much you are eating? I still think talking with a dietitian might be helpful. Your exercise routine is commendable and will help you to maintain your lean muscle mass.

I am in the middle of my BMI range and know that I will never be at the low end, based upon my frame size and muscle mass. I'm not willing to starve myself, just for a lower number on the scale, but I will modify my diet and exercise routine for a lower percentage of fat. The last time that I had my body checked, in November, by hydrostatic weighing, it was around 15-16 %. I really think body composition testing is more realistic and healthy.

JMHO.

Wow Gail, you are one lean lady!  Woot!

Nope, I don't want to just be skinny.  I want to be lean and strong.  You know the song, "she's a brick........house."  Yeah, I always wanted to be her.

I attempted to use myfitnesspal but it seemed too time consuming to me.  IDK, I guess I just don't want to worry about calories if my protein and carbs are where they need to be.

I totally agree that body comp is the way to go.  I am "healthy" as far as body comp but NOT a normal bmi.  Whatever right?

Thanks for all your help.

Funny, I don't feel that lean, and sometimes wonder, if the test was wrong. I tend to see the loose skin, but know that I do have some muscle underneath. I just wish I could see more of it. I always say, that my body fat is low, because I don't have any boobage. LOL!!

Good luck to you!! Tracking can be time consuming, especially in the beginning. I can see where it would be burdensome for someone just starting with the process, especially with having 5 kids. If you have a smartphone, there are apps available that can take pictures of food and figure out your totals for you. Someday I will get one of those. Tracking is a habit for me now, but it was time consuming in the beginning.

Healthy is the way to go and I do know the song, "Brickhouse." Love it!!
