Sleep test
VSG on 07/11/12
I have a very hard time to fall asleep and I sleep on my tummy too
I can't sleep on my back it hurts to much!

I had a sleep apnea test done as part of my testing for VSG. I found it to be fine. They do take about 40 minutes to get all of the electrodes on your head/chest and legs. I had no problems falling asleep. Turned out that I had significant sleep apnea...who knew! I got my Cpap machine last month and what a difference! I actually get good sleep now. I wake up feeling rested and alert. I plan on taking the machine with me for my surgery and hopefully once the bulk of the weight comes off I won't need it.
Be sure to avoid any stimulating food/drinks before your test- no coffee/soda etc.. you don't want to be hyped up and have trouble falling asleep. Good luck

Sleep test was fine for me. They have you sleep a few hours on your own while they observe you, then they have you sleep a few hours with the CPAP machine if you show signs of sleep apnea. They told me I had much deeper sleep with the machine, but once I got the darn thing home, I couldn't keep it on at night. I end up pulling it off in my sleep. If you do have sleep apnea, it will help you get your approval from insurance. That's why they do the test. Also to make sure they take extra precautions with your anesthesia if you are approved for surgery. Good luck!

Me I did and I didn't like it but I suppose it could of been worse. I honestly do not know how they can study your sleep its hard getting good rest hooked to all that crap lol. It was found I had sleep apnea I had no idea and at first hated the cpap machine now its not so bad and I wake up feeling better in the mornings. I hope I won't need the machine after I lose weight but I hear that may not be the case I might always need it.
