So I had much success with this for nausea when I was pregnant  I know we can't eat it post-op but sucking on it like a popsicle works as well.  Has anyone tried it? Can you think of any reason why we shouldn't use it?  FYI It has almost no sugar, just ignore the name.

I love ginger!!  (and I'm not talking about the gal on Gilligan's Island).

Have you tried getting a fresh ginger root, peeling the outside off, then putting slices of it in boiling water for a while?  It'll pull all that flavor and anti nausea power out and you can chill it and sip it...almost like ginger ale without the fizzies.

Oh I have ginger tea as well, but I don't think I'll have a way to make it at the hospital so I was thinking it would be a good way to help with the nausea without them giving me more meds.

most hospitals have ho****er in a dispenser in their patient kitchens for making hot tea...you could also take ginger capsules.

Hello,
I'm a huge supporter of natural remedies vs medications, however I know that Ginger may increase the risk of bleeding and shouldn't be taken with blood thinners( which we are on post op). I'd double check with your doctor to be sure but I was told no:(

I had no idea.  I use ginger a LOT when I cook that's good to know.

Omg I love pickled ginger that you get with sushi.... Other than eggs it's the only thing I've eaten that made me experience actual waves of nausea! It shouldn't do that but oh boy! Try things carefully!

Oh it has some sugar but the 4g or less I'd be using would give a negligable amount of sugar.  I buy all my spices at a local spice shop in Annapolis.

I took my essential oils with me to the hospital. I used peppermint and lavendar. The nurses loved to come into my room as it smelled so good. You can sniff the oils or put them on the bottom of your feet. When I was discharged my acupuncturist came to the house and gave me a treatment for the nausea. It helped more than the meds.
