Exercize and food craving/need?

I have been keeping a diary of what I've been eating (I don't always because I found I'm really way below what I can eat)

But on days that I go to the gym and run/weigh lift I find I'm eating a lot. Mostly meat (cuz I like meat always have) but a few carbs thrown into the mix.
Mostly I find I'm always hungry after a morning work out.

Is this normal? Or is it my head messing with me?

I seriously want/need to lose another 15 lbs so I gotta get a handle on whats really happening.

Hi Donna,

Your metabolism is sped up after a workout so it is totally normal to be more hungry after a workout. I, too, have increased hunger on heavy exercise days. Listen to your body and replenish with a high protein snak AND some healthy carbs.

You look great, keep up the great work!

Yup, it's way normal. For instance, yesterday I did a new circuit with my trainer doing more squats with weights than I care to think about and got to the point where my face muscles were twitching I was working so hard. Then I also did a half hour on th eliptical to keep the heart rate up longer and get some fat burning in. I was pretty hungry about 20 minutes after my workout. Today I did three miles on the treadmill and I was hungry after that, too. Not starving, but hungry.

My trainer recommended that I eat 25 grams of protein within 45 minutes after my workout, but because of my sleeve has me do a shake instead. I'm telling you the shake does it for me. I do GNC wheybolic extrememe chocolate with 8 oz of unsweetened almond milk and it holds me for a good two hours until my next meal. I notice, too, that the shake inhibits my desire to "nibble" which was a horribly bad habit of mine prior to being sleeved.

I've got about 27 pounds (maybe 32) to go and this new routine has really kicked my weight loss up again. I'm back to 2-3 pounds lost per week. (I had slowed during month 3 to only a pound lost two weeks in a row.)

Hmmmm. Words to think about.
I know I've been just eating meat after working out because I had heard that you should get a lot of protein in after workng out.

But I think I'm going to try the protein shake next time. As you said, it may help with the grazing.
I know today all i wanted was more food. Not head hunger but just this nagging need to put somthing into my body.
Not a sweet or carb craving either.
It was just weird and not the first time it's happened.

I walk/run/incline for 4 miles for an hour then I lift weights for about an hour to an hour and half. That's my usual reutine. I've been upping the weigh amounts too.

Thanks,
I'm going to take the advice and switch it up a little.
cant keep eating this much, it defeats the purpose of the work out.

Same is happening to me!  working out almost everyday and stuck at the same weight.  probably building muscle but finding myself grazing more.

Let me know if you solve it!

I use fitbit and log my food when ever I get into a slump.
Lately, I've just been eating as much as I burn.
On no work out days I eat less and burn less.
On work out days I eat more and burn more.

(sigh)

I only lose weight when I don't eat as much as I burn, go figure, right?

The working out/eating more is definately a catch 22 right now.

I'm going to try a suggestion from the excersize forum and drink a protein shake right after I work out. Some say it reduces the all day craving to graze. Worth a try.

going away with a bunch of women this weekend. We'll see what this does to the weight loss.
