The best advice I can give you is to be open with your family about this process and what you are required to do. Since my kids and my husband know about all my requirements, including the no drinking before and after meals, the chewing 30 times (when I get there again), etc. They actually have been trying these things themselves. I don't think you will have much of a problem post op the first few weeks. I have had no desire to eat anything of what they are eating, even when they sit at the table with me. Don't know if that will change soon. The first week, my poor husband didn't want to cook anything and didn't want to eat in the house because he was afraid it would make me sick or that I would be tempted and once I told him it was ok, they have been eating around me and we have even gone out to eat together with me sticking to what I am doing. One night for my daughter's birthday, she wanted chinese, so we went and I was still on full liquids so I had wonton soup and I just ate the broth and I couldn't even fini**** I think they actually felt more guilty about the whole thing and I had to reassure them I was ok.
I know alot of women who have had this surgery and are just down right mean to their husband and kids...I hear "well I can't eat it so why should I make it" I went online and got weight loss recipes that I knew my husband and daughter would enjoy also. I cook just like I used to...same amount...only I don't eat like I used to. Before going into the hospital I went grocery shopping for me and for them. I got what I could have after surgery and then things I could make them and also things that were easy for my husband to prepare just incase I wasn't up to cooking at the moment. Sandwhich stuff, microwavable things...stuff like that. I didn't have to worry about the pre-op because I only had 2 days of clear liquids before surgery. Just google "weight loss recipes" they are some really yummy ones, and stuff that we have tried that is new my hubby and daughter just love...crockpot lasagna, chicken and salsa in the crockpot...alot of them are crockpot recipes and so easy to prepare! Hope this helps!
Thank you all for all your comments. I feel so much more reassured now that meal times wont be an issue! I guess time will tell right?
I have done the diet thing plenty of times where i cooked a meat for all of us, and had pasta, veggie or salad, and rice or potato for family and i would just eat the meat and veggies with a salad.
I think im just freaking out for no reason. I know i will do just fine. And i am going to start to wein my family off of the bad snacks and introduce new healthy ones.
Thanks again!
