An update on my sleeve, my daughters progress and my husband...
I want to thank everyone for the positive comments in my last post about reaching a goal of my normal BMI. There is a part of me that just loves to read the comments. Great affirmation.
I thought I would post to give a few insights about the "journey" of myself, my daughter and my husband. I hope I can put into words, what I am thinking. Bear with me.
For myself, what came easy with the sleeve, in the beginning...became a "do-able" goal.
The weight came off so easy, without consious effort in the first few months.
Then it slowed down and I put my mind to choosing the right foods, in the right quantities and adding some exersize...the revelation was that it was EASY! and frankly when I slipped up, I still did not eat enough to gain a significant amount of weight so I could just get back on the band wagon and carry on without much back sliding. THATS when I understood the true value of the sleeve. I WILL BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN MY WEIGHT WHATEVER THAT "GOAL" WEIGHT MAY BE!
What a beatiful thing.
For my husband: He followed no plan, did not work at not eating or eating the right or wrong thing. I love him. He is who he is. He still lost 90 lbs and is off all his meds. He has probably stretched his sleeve. All true facts. But, even with all that, he has not gained any weight. I don't know if it will last or not. But I do know that he can't eat nearly as much at one time as he used to. And that is a blessing in and of itself.
My Daughter: Weighed 13 lbs at birth (yes, that's what I said, all sympathy accepted) and I nursed and she weighed 32 lbs at 4 months (yes, that's what I said) She has been dieting since she was nursing. LOL
She is 3 weeks post op and down 40 lbs from her highest weight.
She is doing awesome!
She is like a whole new person.
Seeing her realize the change in how you think about food, the dawning knowledge that food no longer has the control over you that it used to is very cool to see.
I expect she will go through all the different stages we all have i.e. the dreaded 3 week stall. Which by the way she is going through right now, poor kid. But she looks like she lost about 8 inches off her hips.
It's just awesome to watch her tranform.
Bottom line...What ever you choose to do with your sleeve, It will definately work for you and your future.
You can make it what you want.
It will always move you forward to a more positive future.
I love my sleeve, my husband and my daughter.
I am glad they have this gift.
I hope you all, whatever stage of the journey you are in, realize how great this gift is.
Rock your sleeves people!

Thanks for such a great post Donna. It has to be so heartwarming as a Mom to see your daughter get healthy. You're a good role model!(((HUGS)))
She is just beside herself.
I can see the changes in her body, but most of all in the way food fits into her everyday life now.
It really is amazing to me.
In a great way.
