Rough Day

So, I'm 6 days post-op and so far all has been relatively well.  I have one incision site that is still fairly painful (I have 6 total) and it makes stading upright a bit of a pain and of course I'm weak.  I got up today and headed to Costco and Wegmans but because of that sore suture I used those stupid carts to get around.  By the time I got home I was exhausted but about 2 hours later started running a low grade fever of 100.5.  My dr. says go directly to ER for anything 101 or better.  Luckily it came back down but I'm still feeling crappy and all around worse than I have since right after surgery.  Is it just exhaustion catching up with me?  I still have a drain in and I get it removed tomorrow.  Does this sound like normal post-op tiredness?

It sounds to me you are trying to do too much too soon.  I'd take it easy for another few days and see how you feel.  Make sure to get your protien shakes in as much as you can.

Sounds pretty normal.  Take it easy for the next few days/weeks.  Even when you start to feel better, it's easy to overdo it.

Sip, walk, rest, repeat!

Sounds normal, you've been through major surgery. Give your body time to heal. You need to rest and keep getting in your protein as that will help your energy and your body heal properly. Rest and protein is your job right now.

Sounds pretty normal to me, surgery buddy.  Ive been sore in my biggest incision site, but dont have a drain.  The tiredness comes on so quickly too....almost like out of nowhere.  When it hits, I want to crawl into bed and sleep the day away.  Ive even had the low grade feer as well.  Not frequently, but when I overdo it.  Try and take it easy.  Good luck to you tomorrow.  My post op is Tuesday.

Regina.  Ready to live again.

Of course everyone is different and I only have 1 incision, but I am feeing great. I have had no real pain since day 3. I'm not sure what to say about drains, as I didn't have any. Maybe you just over did it today. You may be a bit dehydrated and that will make you weak. I wish you all the best and keep a check on that temp.

i was was exhausted as well post-op. i didn't start getting my energy bac****il a couple of days ago. all i can say is rest - try to get your fluids in to avoid dehydration - which will only make matters worse - walk a little bit at a time, and rest some more.  i had five incisions and the largest one is still tender - it's not nearly as bad as it was but my surgeon said it was the one my stomach was taken from and it would take a little longer to heal. hope that helps and i pray you feel better soon.

I had a busy day too.  I went to Costco but just waited in the car.  Went to Vitamin Shoppe and went in and bought lotsa Isopure, but I did not carry any of it.  Had lunch with my parents.  Came home, I was sooooooo tired!  I just woke up, after a 2 hour nap.  And, I'm still tired.  Wow, not much, to be this tired.  And, I am 6 days out.

I have six incisions.  Three are larger, like cuts.  Three are just like holes.

Take care dear, and try not to do too much.
