Hi I'm over 3 years out and I had 79lbs to lose to be a normal BMI.  I lost that in about 10 months and kept losing slowly for about 7 or 8 more months.  I am well below goal now.  Maintaining just fine.

My average weight loss was 2 lbs/week. It seemed very slow to me at the time, but looking back I think to myself..."wow, I got to goal in only 6.5 months"!

Highest - 240 (2008)
Consult - 220 (3/2010)
Surgery day - 195 (11/2010)
Goal - 140 (6/2011)

I have pretty steadily maintained around 135 +/- a couple of pounds.
I have been as low as 132, usually no more than 137.

May I ask how tall you are?

My therapist keeps telling me 130 is unrealistic butto me it seems attainable.  But I guess I'll wait till I get there.

My doctor considered me a light weight too. I'm 5'8 and weigh 240, with a bmi of 36. He said he'd like me to loose 80 pounds (160, bmi of 24, normal range). Me, I'd like to loose closer to 100 and be 140 (bmi of 21).  I'm going to go with his 80 pound goal first, and see how I do there. I'm hoping I don't loose a lot slower, cause I want this weight off! =)  12 days until my surgery!

The number of pounds on the scale may be lower, or less, but from all my time around here, it seems like the percentage of weight lost is about the same. I only had 113lbs to goal, I got there in 6.5 months with an additional 23-25lbs lost over another 4 months while getting into maintenance. My goal weight still had me in the "overweight" range, but we took into account my frame, my bone size, how I carry weight, and the fact that I was a revision. I'm only 5'2", my maintenance weight was 125-130lbs. I'm most comfortable there while my surgeon still harps on me to gain up to 140-145lbs.
