How do you count your Post-op days??
She said it needed to be Very well toasted. I am on "soft foods" right now. I had Nature's own 100% whole wheat bread. It has 50 cal. and 4 protein! I don't have bread sticks and that type. She said it needed to be in very small amounts. Pasta is a no for now because I am only 3 weeks. I have another appt. with her after this!

well... i always feel like the odd one out with the food. i haven't found the right protein shakes - the ones i've tried were all frothy and the combo of smell and taste set off my gag reflexes in a major way. so i found fage greek yogurt - 0% - they have 120cals and 13gms of protein. i'm going to try bodyfortress whey (no isolate) this week and a couple EAS low carb - hopefully they will go down a little better. other than that i've been on pureed or very soft foods for about a week - i eat soft scrambled eggs, liquidy grits, pulled bbq chicken (cooked in the crockpot - sooo tender and easy on the stomach), pureed chilli, pureed lasagna, over cooked, mushy but flavorful cabbage and soups. i can't do more than 1/4 cup of anything before i am beyond stuffed - and truthfully i rarely finish the 1/4 cup - i have multiple smaller meals. i am still trying to find my way through eating slower. in my mind i'm giving enough time between bites but my stomach says different. lol
my calories never exceed 550 - my carbs have been up to 55 (highest) and protein round 45. i stay in touch with my PCP and my surgereon - they both approve of my decisions so far and have reminded me it's 3 weeks out and part of the process is finding what will work best for me. so my goal this week is to find a protein shake i can tolerate that is low in calories and high in protein or to find the right combination of foods that will get me to 70 a day. as a detailed planner, all the changes are hard on me - i've drank protein shakes for years but my taste buds are all out of wack - and since we can't chug them... well you get the picture. lol
anywhoo - i know that was probaby more than you asked for - lol - but i hope it helps. :-)
let me know how you're getting along.

That's exactly what I wanted! I think you are doing good. How do you cook the pulled bbq chicken? I would love to try it!
I have done bbq pulled pork in the crackpot!
Good luck on your proteins! You will find something you like! I have the premier shakes on order and will post what I think when I get them!

please do - i'm desperate to find a shake that works! lol
for the pulled chicken i used leg quarters (dark meat is more tender so i figured it would go down easier). remove the skin - pierce meat and season well. add diced onions, garlic to the bottom of the pot (same half to cover the chicken) - add meat, a few bay leaves and a cup or so of chicken broth. i started late so I had my crockpot set ot high for about 3 hours. strain liquiq and remove bones - shred with a fork and add bbq sauce. delicious!!!! plus you can use the meat for other meals. the fam put it on buns and like a pulled pork sandwich - i just ate the meat - but i loved it.
also - if you haven't already - check out myfitnesspal.com. it's awesome!! i track everything - everyday - helps me feel accountable. let me know if you like it.

The only shake that tastes good to me is "Premier Protein". I like the chocolate flavor premade shakes. They have 30 grams of protein and taste great. I buy them at Sam's but I've heard that Costco has them as well. Good luck to you both!!!
