Checking in with my Pre-Op Friends

A while back I posted about making some friends that are pre-op like myself to help encourage each other, if your going through medical supervised diet or pre-op liquid diet or waiting to hear from surgery etc.
I have met some great people so far and I just wanna check in with everyone as see how you are doing. I know a few people have been sleeved by now and congrats to ya'll I hope everything has been going well in recovery.
As for me, again I'm 29 and from TX and I already have Insurance approval and at the time I am still dieting and working out to help me loose at much weight at I can before I start my liquid diet and before surgery. (I have a high start weight) My first 2 weeks I lost 11 pounds, but it's been about 3 weeks since then and I am not going to weigh in again until the 18th when I have my appointment with my surgeon. I'm excited to see what number shows on the scale because I have been working real hard, I am doing Atkins Induction and I don't have any carb withdrawls anymore, I'm also off fast food and processed food and soda. I am working out everyday for at least 30 mins sometimes twice a day.
At my next appointment I should be scheduling my surgery which I am hoping to have in early June.

Well that's my update for now, I hope to hear from all my friends, or even if we haven't talked before and you are still looking for support.

Sounds like you're really on the right track.  I'm starting my liquid diet on tuesday and I just want the end of the month to get here already.  Anxious and excited.  This process has taken so long and I'm still in shock that I've finally gotten approved.

I'm trying to be on the right track, I keep reminding myself that the sleeve is only going to work as long as I work with it, and in order for me to reach my goals post op I have a running start with the weight loss.
Good Luck with your liquid diet I know it can be really hard on some people but it just means your that much closer to surgery. When is your surgery date?

My surgery date is 4/25.  I'm supposed to drink 4 protein shakes a day on my liquid diet, seems like a lot, I find them very filling.  I'm sure once the solid food is gone they won't seem like so much though.

You are the day after me!!  I wish you all the luck (not that you need it).  I have my pre-op appointment on Monday so I'm sure there will be lots talked about.

Good luck to you as well!  I actually need to call my surgeon's office as they haven't made my pre-op appointment yet.  Don't want to fall through the cracks.  They've been wonderful but best to stay vigilant.  I don't want anything to mess this up.

Hopefully I'll be able to get online and let you know how "easy" it was. ;)

I am very much like you Christine! I have a large amount of weight to lose prior to surgery and am hoping for it sometime in late April or the very first part of May if I can. My first set of pre-op appointments are this coming up week (psych eval, NUT, physical therapist). Good luck to you!

We are very much alike, we both have the same goal weight! I know we can get there...
I was suppose to have the DS about a year and a half ago and my ins. would not approve for the full amount, that time I had lost 68 pounds but of course after that I gained it back. I am hoping I can do it again.

Thanks for the post, I was just approved one week ago and began my liquid diet this past Sunday. I have been working with my doctor since last October, the NUT and a fitness specialist to meet my 3 month multi-dis criteria. Then once I had all my paperwork together and submitted to WLS office it took about 3-4 weeks to find out I was approved.

Reading that sounds easy but it has taken me over 3 years to come to this point. I have been denied twice before and this time I wanted it done right and WooHoo it worked!

My surgery is scheduled for April 16, 2012 and I couldn't be happier. However, I didn't have my caff intake adjusted before starting my 2 wk liquid diet and had headaches for a few days but today is better. I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet.

I went yesterday for my pre-op screening and everything checked out and the doctor gave me the all clear...next stop for me is getting my Sleeve!

I know how the long journeys go I actually have been through the 3 month medical diet twice, I was approved by insurance per the last time I did it so this time it's just me even though I am checking in with the surgeon. I know it will be all worth it in the end!
