Happy Easter Everyone!!

I have just crossed my two month surgiversary on April 6, 2012. Kind of struggling the last couple of weeks with what seems like very slow weight loss however still losing and not gaining  Food is not having much of an appeal. I prepared a beautiful turkey and ham dinner for my family and friends and ate a few bites but little seems to be truly satisfying and sits well. The solid food stage is difficult I went from worried my stomach was too big as I could drink a cup and a half of broth no problem to only a couple of bites of solid food which did not meet my daily requirements. It is quite the juggling game to balance all of this and not drink before and after each meal.

I was feeling like I wasnt losing and wasnt getting anywhere. I just did my once a month measurements and now feel better  But have been reading some posts lately about statistics and Estimated Weight Loss for VSG is only 60% that alarms me.

Since I started recording in January
Lost 51 lbs
BMI dropped 9 points 50.7 to 41.20
Waist lost 5.5 inches
Hips lost 4 inches
Addition Elle pant size 24 to 20 now

In order to meet my protein requirements I have now changed to two protien drinks a day, with a solid lunch and some snacks and trying more water which has helped my weight loss the last couple of days. My new favorite go to snack for taste, satisfaction and crunch is watermelon or cucumber.

On a personal note and I am SOOO EXCITED!! I gave my notice at work. I have been planning a sabaticcal for nearly two years now and have checked off some important goals to get there. Sold my house in order to finance the trip and had my surgery so I can fit in an airplane seat and do all the things I wanted to without my weight impeding me. I stop work on August 1/12 and hope to lose another 30lbs by then. Hopefully my weight will be at a range which will no longer limit me.

The first leg of the journey is a two weeking trip to the Yukon, a week visiting family in BC, followed by a week kayak trip in Washington state and then a two week UT AZ NV Grand Canyon & National Parks tour by mid September I will be in Cuzco Peru for 7 weeks, enrolled in Spanish school and doing some mission/volunteer work while I am there and traveling of course. Macchu Pichu and Lake Titicaca here I come :) I will head back to Canada for a week or two and depart mid November for nine months in Mexico where I will volunteer at a marine research facility and lots of daily diving and more language school. Cant believe I am actually going to do it. It is a dream come true!! The whole quitting my job thing is scary though, I have been a career woman the last 30 years.

Wow!!  The next two years seem to be so exciting!!!  So happy for you!!  You are doing great.  I am still on liquids, and can imagine the switchover to solids will be a difficult one to manuver.

I read your post earlier today and it about took my breath away. I laid down the iPAD and read it to my husband and I just felt so much admiration for you. To be smart enough, financially savvy enough, and gutsy enough to give up your job and your home in order to fulfill your dreams is amazing.  I am in awe and jealous! And every destination will be challenging in some way, but they all sound fun, interestting and upbeat. You go girl - you've got this weight loss thing by the tail and you are about to sail on with your life!

Thank you Judy. I can hardly believe it myself and five years ago these thoughts never entered my mind. I plan on it being the adventure of a lifetime and the launching pad for more life changes and perhaps a career change.
