My revision surgery (X-Post)

Revision on 08/16/12
Lest Maria F. or anyone else think that I'm hiding the new path of my journey on the bandwagon, I'd like to share my relief by announcing that today I received a date (May 3) for my revision surgery. My beloved band will be removed (because of esophageal motility issues) and I'll be revised to the sleeve. I love my band and hate to see it go, but I'm trying to make the best of these unexpected cir****tances. I will always be a bandster at heart, but with your help, I plan to be a sleeve success as well.

Jean -

I am so sorry you are losing your band especially because it had worked beautifully for you up to this point so it must be quite disappointing, however, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the sleeve community and to tell you that life with the sleeve is pretty fantastic and that overall, I am pretty sure that you will be able to apply all the lessons you learned with the band to be an exceptional sleever.  Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery.

Wishing you a safe and successful surgery, Jean!!

Tomorrow will be two weeks that I have been sleeved.  I am still on liquids, so have no way of comparing the two tools, as of yet.

I am quite sure you will be a smashing success!!

Congrats on being sleeved, Melly!  I've lost over 20 lbs since revising from the band to the sleeve (I'm about 10 weeks out), and have 10 lbs to go to get to my final goal.

I LOVE my sleeve!  I have had absolutely no complications, other than I cannot tolerate sugar.  I have not thrown up ONCE!  By this time with the band, I had worshipped the toilet bowl more than once.

I think you will love the sleeve!

Awe, thanks Julie!! I am so happy for you!!  I hope I can't tolerate sugar, either.  ha ha I have a friend that revised and she can't tolerate fatty or fried stuff.  That would be nice also.  ha ha

I am excited to see where my sleeve takes me!

I was wondering how things were going. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Keep us posted.
Revising to the sleeve was one of the best things I did.

I will be watching for your recipes and advice. It is a much different eating experience.

Welcome!

I'm sorry that you have to go through a second surgery especially with so much success with the Band, but I think it will give you a new perspective that will help the Bandsters and us Sleevers.

Best wishes and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Jean, I'm 10 weeks out since my revision and am loving my sleeve!  I have already had way less complications than with the band.  Sure the band helped me lose 75 lbs, but I LOVE my sleeve already!
