How will I feel a week out from surgery?

Hi!
I am planning having my surgery 10 days before my son's graduation.  Will I feel okay to do this?  Also I am planning a vacation one month after my surgery but we are just renting a lake house nothing rigorous, just fishing and laying around.  Maybe some walking/hiking!
Should I be able to handle it?

Now I know everyon is different, but I got on a plane and flew to Phoenix to go to the Fiest Bowl with my Dr's approval. He was at the game! LOL. I did have lots of help and my family just helped to make sure that I sipped sipped sipped and walked! Good Luck:)

You should be fine for his graduation AND for your vacation. Just don't go swimming! Good luck :)

You should be fine, assuming you have no complications.

I am eight days out.  My surgery was last Tuesday.  I feel fine.  I'm a bit tired, but I was a bit tired before surgery.  I've been back at work full time since Monday.  Other than I the fact that I can't eat anything (just full liquids), I am pretty much back to normal.

After 6 weeks you should be healed enough to swim, check with your surgeon at your post-op visit.. You will need a new bathing suit and clothes for your vaction!

As long as there is no complications,  you will be perfectly fine by then. I returned to a physical job at 14 days, on modified duties. A month out you will feel mostly normal by then, and can walk and hike without much problem. Just make sure you have lots of water with you, and don't do any climbing that will cause you to use stomach muscles. Your stitches should be pretty much healed up by then, but avoid the lake just in case.

I think you'll be fine for the graduation and I can't think of anything better than a lake house relaxing vacation. You'll have access to your own food, plenty of time for naps, and time to focus on you. Sounds perfect to me!

I would say a definite yes to both however expect to feel tired and weak you will be able to do it just don't beat yourself up when you feel exhausted remember you will be taking in so few calories and your body is not use to it it takes time so take it slow graduation no problem vacation no problem don't push the hiking too much best wishes cheers to the new you

I agree with Maureen. You will get tired easily. I found this happened with me up to one week post-op, after that I felt better and stool feel better every day. I am now 3 weeks post-op and feeling awesome! I would limit the hiking, light walking, but no intense hiking.
