Cigna
Ok. So I know I've posted before about Cigna but I just got off the phone with them and I am having some major anxiety. I am waiting for my psych results and after that I will be able to submit everything to them for approval. Here's the thing: my BMI is 37 and I have hypertension. I am currently taking lisinopril and my BP still runs about 138/90--is that considered a poorly controlled comorbidity? I don't really have any other significant health issues that are documented so I am hoping that's enough. I just need some reassurance because I am terrified of being denied!
Cigna originally "denied" me, but just needed additional information from another doc. After that was submitted, all was well.
I would take a deep breath and just keep doing what you are doing. I know that is easier said than done because I was a wreck while waiting for another docotor to submit his findings.

I have CIGNA too and worry about the approval part. I am at the beggining of the 6 month required weight loss program with my doctor. I need that done before I can even apply. I also have a BMI around 37-38. I do have severe sleep apnea diagnosed over 5 years ago which is one of my main motivators to get VSG. I HAVE to lose weight. I need to be able to sleep right! So as long as they think I'm not a total freak, then I think I'm okay but I still won't know until we turn things in hopefully in Sept.
When do they do the psych evaluation? I have seen a social worker in my initial consultation who I believe did a psych evaluation, but I'm not sure how that part works. I'm hoping they count my initial consult as #1 of the 6 months of meetings. I really want to have this surgery in Sept right after my kids go back to school.
When will you apply to CIGNA? It sounds to me like you have hypertension issues that would qualify you. Have you ever had a sleep study done? Many people have sleep apnea and don't even know it.

Be glad about that. Your hypertension WILL improve dramatically with weight loss. That is something for you to look forward to. Even tho most people do see their sleep apnea improve with weight loss. There is no guarentee that I can get off of a CPAP machine entirely.
