I never counted carbs...just didn't eat any bread, rice, etc.  In the beginning, I lived on Tabatchnick Tomato Soup--the best!  Never had a problem with the acidity.

I LIVED on tomato soup as a postop!  I had no issues with it and managed to lose weight just fine!  I even bought some canned roasted diced tomatoes, used my immersion blender to puree and added them to my soup.  YUMMMMM!  A year + later....I had the same thing for dinner tonight! :)

My plan for the day I was released form the hospital was creamed soups with skim milk strained. I couldn't tolerate many of the cream soups, but I could eat the tomato.  I put the skim milk in it and it takes away some of the acidity.  Also ate Campbell's tomato bisque and it is great also.  Refried beans with cheese from Taco Bell and Wendys Chilli are also great!
I have lost 30lbs and my VSG was 04-02-12.
Good luck.
