okay so, i have done well so far...I mean I have lost 87 lbs! I DO NOT usually cheat---I am VERY VERY strict with myself--like I mean maybe less than 15 carbs per day--try not to eat after 8pm and EVERYTHING I eat is protein---the past few days I have had the urge to snack on anything--I dont know why--its like I am bored? IDK but I am soooo scared that I wont stop and I dont wanna go back to what I used to be :*( I know the surgeon I used did the smallest stomach size--and I have had great restriction this whole time and I can tell now that I am almost 7 months out I can eat maybe 2.5 oz now so Im getting to where I can tolerate more food-I know this is normal, but I mean can my stomach ever be as big as it was before? Please tell me someone, anyone had these urges with the snacking??

You're right at 6 months out, correct? From everything I have read, six months is about when the stomach is fully healed and the swelling is finally completely gone, so we do have considerably more room in our sleeves. 2.5 oz doesn't sound like enough to be able to stretch your stomach back out to its old size, or at all... I'm 7 weeks out, and sometimes I can eat close to 2 oz already, without feeling like I ate too much.

As far as the urges with the snacking, could this go along with the idea that your capacity is a little more now, since your tummy is fully healed? Could you add in a small snack somewhere without throwing off your eating plan? Could it be that you're getting lax on your fluids, so you are feeling thirst disguised as hunger?

I do know what you mean about having the urge to snack. So far I have been successful with having one or two Ritz crackers with a piece of string cheese, and that takes the edge off for me. It's not enough to ruin my carb count for the day, but it's enough to let me feel like I had snacky food.

PS- great work, btw! I want to be like you in six months :)

Months yes weeks no--lol-- I was 24 weeks a couple weeks ago--i think this mon will be 26 weeks since surgery? I know I do get in my protein EVERY day--about 80-90 grams so no issues there--and the bad thing is when I want to snack, I am not even hungry--I know this was my issue before--I didnt have issues with candy bars and ice cream...mine was chips and crackers--popcorn etc--I just know i dont want to ruin the amazing things I have accpomplished--this was hard work to get where im at and its not worth going back. As of now, I do notice I can eat more than before--but I mean I barely even just got to where i can eat over 2 oz--for the first 5.5 months I was still at about 1.5 oz.

That's going to be my issue too... crackers, popcorn, pizza crust, etc.

I still think you're doing great.  And if you're talking about a difference of a little over half an ounce... it probably looks like a bigger difference visually than it actually is in terms of calorie intake.

Maybe try to work through why you feel the need to snack when you're not hungry?  Is it happening at a particluar time of day?  After eating certain other foods?  When  you have certain emotions?  When you get bored?

Thanks! Honestly, I was telling my husband, I think alot of it has to do with me trying to get more carbs in cause at some point soon Im gonna  need to stop losing weight and I am going to try and maintain...so it seems like when I have any good amount of carbs like a piece of pizza crust or a handful of chips, I want more--but if I dont eat them, I dont seem to crave them much. weird, but thats kinda how it seems.. ...and its usually at night time when I want to snack the most.

Yep- carbs do that to a lot of us.  It's most likely what made us fat in the first place.

Does fruit affect you that way?

Maybe try adding in more fruit to get those carbs in, then?  I'm no expert on maintenance at all... but I do hear a lot of people say that carbs in fruit count just like carbs in breads...

Does your doctor or NUT have suggestions for switching over to maintenance?

the best advice from a "vet" who is 2 years and 3 months out and not at goal???

DON"T worry abount maintenance till you get there! Do everything in your power to keep losing and get to goal as soon as possible, otherwise if you start adding in even good carbs too early,it might possibly stall you!

That is what I did and I am really struggling now to get losing again and get to goal.

You don't have to take my advice but I sure as HELL wish I had taken the ves advice 16 nonths ago...

Make hay while the sun shines, girly,KWIM?
