Ok I need some support here - I was sleeved on Wed.  I am on clears until Wed and then full liquids and I am hungry.  I know it is hunger because my stomach has been growling something fierce all afternoon.  HELP!!!!!  I just want some soup or a protein shake.....I don't know how I am gonna make it til Wed.

I need some encouragement here or a reality check...something!

As frustrating as my answer may be, your hunger symptoms sound a lot like acid. I had the same growling going on and it was corrected with a PPI. I noticed that the growling would happen even after I had just had something to drink (and later eat), which with hunger doesn't usually happen with me. I'd mention it to your surgeon or surgeon's support staff on Monday and see what the response is.

I told my doc my symptoms and said that I thought the pepcid wasn't doing the job. I was immediately given the RX for the PPI. Presto! No more grubling. No hunger pangs.

None of the docs wants us to have esophageal erosion because of untreated acid.

I have to agree with Kairk. Sounds like acid.

Also, be forewarned... a lot of us have noisy tummies now, for whatever reason, and it's not connected to hunger. We are taught as kids to take stomach noises as a symptom of hunger, but that's just not always the case anymore. Sometimes our tummies just like to be vocal while they do their work.

Also, are you allowed to have sf jello right now? What little real hunger I felt in that first week postop was pretty much satisfied by sf jello and chicken broth.

I am drinking/eating all of those things.....maybe I am not doing it frequently enough.  I drink some fluids over 20-30 minutes and then take a break for a couple of hours.

Break for a couple of hours?  No... that early out, I had to pretty much constantly sip to get in 64 oz of fluid.  When you get to soft foods, you'll want to eat every 2-3 hours probably, but right now everything counts as a liquid and spacing it out like that is pointless.

Residual Ghrerlin hormone as well. But I would ask the doc for a ppi for now.
It should help a lot.

keep sipping the fluids and buckle down. That growling will go away in a few days.

congrats on the surgery,
stay the course,
see you on the losers bench

I would like to add that my tummy was very noisy for about three weeks. It's not hunger at all.

When I went to my doctor for my 1 week after visit, we talked about an actual pain I was having - almost like a gas bubble, but didn't seem to be gas.  I wasn't sure if I was actually feeling a hunger pain since I probably never felt a real one in my life.  He said it could be that or it could just be more "gas/stuff" that needed to pass.  We talked a little about hunger and interestingly enough he warned me that a stomach growl does not mean you are hungry.  He said most people think they are when their stomach growl but that is not what it is.  Unfortunately he didn't say what it is.  I did have a lot of that in the first few days or so too, but I just kept sipping water and ignroed it.  Evenutally it just went away.  You can try some warm decaf tea - you can even add sweet n low, that seemed to help me a bit.
