so much for plastics. I'm pregnant!!!
Hey Tiffany, thanks for the reply! I've enjoyed reading your posts/responses over the past two years here on OH.
I wanted to contact you but your profile is private so....Today I read through about 10 pages of your past posts ****il my eyes became cross-eyed!). I read the part about 100 carbs/day but was unsure how to do that without adding a TON of calories. I "try" (read: fail miserably often) to eat around 40 carbs/day during the week. It feels so darn scary to purposely eat 100! Also, I've never really counted calories so...
Would you mind giving me an idea of your daily meals?
We use NFP (natural family planning) sort of. Let me explain. If used properly it's as effective as the pill without the side effects. But, you actually need to chart daily by taking your morning temp before rising, checking cervical mucous, etc. for it to be effective. Well, I never take my temp. I rely mostly on my cervical mucous to tell me if I'm fertile or not-so-much. However either due to my intense work outs and/or age (40+), my cycles have been really weird the past 4 months. My husband and I weren't necessarily TTC BUT we're open to life. So there you have it. Sorry for the looooong explanation. :)
Congratulations to you as well and thanks for all your help. I'm sure there will be more questions in the future.

*I wanted to add that I don't normally have a cycle after pregnancy for over a year d/t breastfeeding. No period for nearly two years. Woot!

I eat 1700-1800 calories a day. I eat 4-6 meals a day, a couple of snacks and if you are at a normal weight/BMI that's the standard recommendation from everything I've read online. Those guidelines came from my high risk ob.
I admit I eat more carbs than 100gr, way more, and I honestly do not count much of anything religiously. I eat the Yogurt Light yogurts for breakfast, 1 sandwich on a bagel thin, I snack through the afternoon then protein and greens for dinner.
I get the NFP thing totally. We are closing up shop after this baby arrives. I'm done being pregnant.
Some say that low carbing isn't dangerous, but my perinatologist insists that the minimum is 100gr of carbs per day for good fetal brain development and that hard ketosis can cause fetal brain damage. I listen to him without really questioning his recommendations unless they were to sound absurd. But, 100gr of carbs is reasonable. Eat 1/2 sandwich, milk it up by a couple of glasses and you'll get plenty.

Awww... thanks, Gail. I appreciate your kind reply. I admire you quite a bit! I had planned on having another Bodpod this month. Not sure if you can do that when you're preggers. I will continue to work my way to the lean body fat category. Hopefully, pregnancy will not cause me to "fall off the wagon." I'm afraid of how my exercise routine will need to be modified. I really enjoy the cardio kickboxing class but we work out to exhaustion. Which of course is not advisable during pregnancy.
Last December, during the holidays, one of the morning Spin instructors was instructing a night class, since the regular person was on vacation. She was about 7-8 months pregnant and was all baby stomach. So, the exercise may need to be modified, but you can definitely keep up with doing something. Everything can be modified.
Excited for you on this new adventure, especially in a healthier body.
P.S. Healthy carbs are easy to add: some berries, NF Greek Yogurt, Skim milk, Sweet potato (yum), oatmeal. I often eat 80-100 carbs per day and it isn't hard to do at all.
