update on my insurance struggles

So as of friday my insurance did not cover my surgery.  I was miserable all weekend.  I even went as far as stuffing my face friday. 

Yesterday I get an email from my navigator over at the surgeon's office telling me to call the office before coming in for my appointment today.  So i was pissed.  Pissed because my appointment was going to be the consent signing.  So Since i was so pissed i called the insurance company again and FINALLY spoke to someone that knew WTF they were talking about.  

She told me that i have not been denied or approved.  My case has passed the initial screening and has been passed over to the Tech department.  She explained to me that this is where the Nurse or if needed Dr will go over my case and decide if it is a medical necessity.

I have 2 comorbilities.  I have asthma and Hypertension.  I am praying that they realize that it IS a necessity. 

I will hopefully have an answer by friday.  If i am approved i will have surgery monday morning.

 Wow- that's stressful. I'm also in process of hearing from my insurance . I hope you get your approval soon and so do I. Good luck!!!!

IF you are denied ask your surgeon to do a peer to peer review with the medical director of your insurance company- he may be able to do this before an actual denial?? It's amazing what can happen when docs talk to each other instead of reading paperwork!! Good Luck!!

I spoke to the surgeon about it yesterday and he said that they would do everything in their power to get it approved.
