Yes, the recommendation was for me working out at an intense level 4 to 5 days per week wanting to increase lean body mass (muscle) while continuing to lose fat.

I was quite stalled at my one year mark in January. I switched to a paleo/primal diet and now5 mo later I'm under goal. So that's what works for me, but everyone is different. I have lost 33 pounds since end of January.

Is the paleo diet the one discussed here that is high in protein?

Rob, I'm so happy! I was thinking of you throughout the day today. You are such a source of strength for many but it is good to see you have "human moments" too. That gives us even more hope knowing that you made it through times of difficulty. Thanks for sharing your real experiences! *hugs!

These paleo or primal diets are based on eating things that our ancestors ate for millions of years. Meat, vegetables, fruits. Basically staying away from grains, beans, sugar. Some eat dairy ( I do), some don't. I modify it to fit my calorie goals, I don't eat as much as I want. I believe your needs are different when you have been obese. I eat plenty of protein ( aiming for about 100 grams). I try to eat grass fed, organic. I try not to eat chemicals, fake sugars and such. I do not eat diet anything and I try to stay away from things in a package. My main exception is protein shakes, which I do one sometimes two a day. With my tiny tummy I can't always eat enough, especially when I'm busy with work. I suggest reading the book The Primal Blueprint. Just keep in mind to modify things for your needs. Since I started this diet I have been able to lose the rest of my weight, never hungry, feel great. It's not complicated either. It may not work for everyone, but it sure worked for me. I had been stalled for too long. Best of luck.
