Newbie 1 wk post op
So I am one week post op and doing pretty good. I have been following on this site and it is such great help! My few issues are this....... My "spare tire" area still feels bloated, I am constipated, I have a VERY hard time waking up in the mornings. I am also dealing with head hunger and my biggest worry is this...... What if I messed it up already! What if I stretched it? I did sneak in some soft foods this week and watermelon.
I had my surgery on 6/27 so I'm close to a week out. I can tell you that I definitely still feel a little bloated and constipated, but each time I do a few laps around the house the bloating feeling goes away little by little. My doc has me on a two week liquid diet for post-op. I've noticed from these boards that every doctor has a little different plan for us before and after our surgery. Be careful with your "baby tummy." Our nutritionist gave us a good piece of advice. Treat your new tummy like you would your baby, and only give her things that she can handle at each stage of her development. Listen to your doctor and your body and you will be fine.
I went to Dr. Umbach at Blossom Bariatric...LOVE THEM ALL!! The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable. They make you feel like family. They have a support group twice a month on the 2nd Tuesday and 3rd Monday of the month. I went 3 times before my surgery, and I'll be going to the next one as my first one after being sleeved. I can't say enough good things about their Henderson office.
Watermelon??? I am four weeks out and still can't have any fruit except unsweetened applesauce. I for one became this fat because I wouldn't (or couldn't) follow a diet plan. I didn't have 80% of my stomach removed to blow it again. You need to try harder to stick to your doctor's plan. It is the safest thing for your new tummy.
If your doctor recommended a liquid diet post op, then that must be what he thinks is best for you! Sneaking fruit and soft foods one week out can really hurt you. You have a very swollen stomach that needs to heal before you go putting food in it - hence the liquid diet. You trusted your doctor enough to let him remove 85% of your stomach, now trust him enough to know what's best for you and follow his post op diet. You probably didn't do any damage yet, but you will if you don't follow your post op diet! Good luck to you! You can do this :)
