First I woke up to this:

Which happily takes me out of the obese BMI and into overweight!  Last week I only lost .4 of a pound the least I've lost by far and I was really happy to see this weight on the scale this morning.

THEN we headed to a race in Reston, VA.  My second 5k.  My first was at 8 weeks post op and I am now 14 weeks post op.  At my first race I finished in 44:55:01 with an average time of 14:29 min/mile.  Well I don't have official results but according to my gps (drum roll please) I ran this 5k in 34:44 with an average pace of 10:44!!!!!!!!!!  Can you believe that I took more than 10min off my run time in 6 weeks.  INCREDIBLE!  I am so thankful for my sleeve and everyone here who has helped me so far.

If you are on the fence about having this surgery, I gotta say it's the best decision I've ever made.

ETA: I'll have a real race review on my blog and in the exercise forum when I get official results.

Me right before the finish line (I actually feel much better there than the pic makes it look)

Also the full race report is in the Exercise forum and on my blog now.  There's nothing like learning the race winner did the entire 5k in 14:41 to make you feel REALLY Slow.

Wow what a great improvement! and in only 6 weeks improved time by 10 minutes wow.  What do you credit your improvement to?  I have heard that doing small sprints throughout the 5k practise runs can improve timings.

I run A LOT!  That's really the key, feet on the ground.  My typical week looks like this (for running I do other stuff too); Tues and Thurs (med. run, right now that's 4.5-5 miles), Wed. only 2 miles but I do fartlek or tempo runs, Sunday long run (right now 7 miles).  I also bike, ride horses, swim and do P90X.  So I think it all comes together to help.

I'm envious.  I too hope to be able to start jogging again as I did in high school and early adulthood.  This is one of my goals to reach after my surgery in two weeks.  Great job and keep it up.
