Stranger Stupid Comment
I am so sorry that someone was so unkind like that. It is horrifying but you are right, prejudice and hate are still socially acceptable when it is directed towards heavier people. It's terrible. A saleswoman at Penny's once gave me a dirty look when I was looking at nightgowns for my daughter, she said, "We don't have your size over here, Ma'am." So embarrassing and RUDE!
I was at a family reunion last year (pre op) and a cousin brought her boyfriend (they are both in their 40's) and one of the family members (a thin family member) was joking about giving me a piggy back ride and this boyfriend of my cousin laughs really loud, attracting everyones attention and stares, and then says, "HA HA I'd like to see THAT!" then he looked me up and down taking note of my size. I was so humiliated. I was about 220 lbs at that time and while I KNEW I was big I didn't realize I was a laughable matter at my own family reunion.
some people feel it's okay to be mean. They are ugly inside and It makes me recall the comeback of "Well, I may be fat but you're ugly. And I can lose the weight." meaning ugly stays ugly. Be happy that you are a beautiful person and were so shocked by that horrific behavior that you were stunned into silence. That just shows that it is foreign to you. love and hugs to you, dear. And be proud of your hard work and efforts paying off!
