Do any of you have blue cross blue shield Anthem & had a revision or trying to have a revision?

Hi there, I have BCBS anthem of Ohio, but I did not have a revision surgery, just the normal sleeve.  They approved me for surgery within 2 days of submitting a claim though, and they were very helpful and friendly through the whole process (crazy, right?).  (mind you this was after a 6 month physican assisted weight loss program, which they require).

Submitted on 4/26 was officially approved on 5/2..they originally approved the removal but denied the sleeve but then went back 24 hours later and approved the sleeve. The reason they denied it was because when I talked to my surgeon about revising my BMI was only 39, when I actually went for my history and physical with the surgeon before submittig my BMI was 41. If I would have still been below 40 BMI it wouldn't have been approved.

I didn't really have any comorbs, the ones they put were GERD/Acid Reflux which I only had when the band was too tight. Reason for the revision was the band would get randomly tight which lead me to get constant fills/unfills and vomiting, etc. The surgeon felt it would be best to have it removed to prevent damage from happening and revise so I could maintain what I loss with the band.
Good Luck! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

 My band actually slipped due to coughing nonstop for about 4 1/2 months. I had whopping cough.
Once it slipped I ate LOTS 'cause my stomach is larger.
So now my Comorbs & reasons are;
Athsma
47 bmi
And excess scar tissue around the band
My surgeon also recommended me

My surgeon submitted to the ins co on the 9th.
Now I must find patience lol.

Hope you hear something soon! Fingers Crossed!! When I had called to check on mine they stated they had 15 calendar days to give me an approval/denial so that may be the way it is with everyone. Keep us posted.

 My doc said to wait 2-3 weeks before calling sounds like your 15 days is right in that plan.

TY :)
