Me vs the Birthday Cake

I have always been a cake and icing girl, I knew this would be a huge struggle. I took my kids to a birthday party yesterday where they brought out this huge delicious looking cake after 2 hours of me not being able to have ANYTHING else at the party. They were only serving carbonated drinks because the kids dad forgot to bring the water. Well the cake was cut and I think oh a finger tip of icing won't kill me. I WAS WRONG!!!

One: it didn't taste good to me anymore (I'm counting that as a NSV ~ I want nothing to do with cake or icing anymore due to the taste)
Two: I feelt like somebody punched me full force in the stomach about 5 mins later.

I do not count this as a mistake because I learned from it but I'm done with sugary desserts 100% for now. I'd say forever but I also know that a sweet could cross my path in the future that I'm weak enough to give into and don't want to be a liar by default LOL

Nothing tastes the same to me. I thought that sugar really only affected gastric bypass patients. Will sugar make us Sleevers sick as well? I really wasn't expecting that. Not that it's a big deal, but will the rare indulgence really hurt us that way??? I am worried about the sick feeling. Who wants to feel like that at a birthday party? Do you think it is because during the diet, our bodies have cut out sugar?

Sugar doesnt like me anymore either. Wish that was the same for carbs and high fat foods. Well, I cannot win them all.
All we can do is our best in this journey to avoid the bad stuff. Sounds like you are headed on the right track avoiding the sugary stuff.

I'm a big fan of no mistakes - only lessons we are taught.

Just reading your "finger tip" of icing made me kind of gag. LOL! I'm not a sugar girl at all so that gag would have come pre-op too.

That being said - carrot cake with cream cheese icing is our wedding anniversary tradition. But that's not until October so we'll wait and see how that goes.
