I made the ricotta bake for the first time last night; it's SO GOOD   Probably helped that I hadn't eaten anything with good flavor in a month or two.  Anyway, I was wondering the same thing.  It might be better with a little beef added.  Then again, it's pretty darn good on its own.

Hey Carmelita! Great points and thanks for the info!

No, I haven't been cleared for meats or anything of the sorts (way too early for me!). I was just curious if anyone had added any type of meat for their version of the ricotta bake eventually down the road once they were cleared for meats. Sorry, I guess I should posted that.  I totally agree with you on everything you said.  I will in no way risk anything especially after getting this far.  I'm not even a week post-op and right now living off of broth, water,SF popsicles, and Premier Protein shakes and to be honest it's not that bad. However, since I was meat lover and pasta lover pre op,  I just fell in love with the idea that I could eventually still enjoy the inside of a lasagna and that's why I asked about the meat.

Thanks for sharing! -Larry

I pureed canadian bacon in the sauce and poured it over the cheese. It was awesome. My doc said stay away from beef for quite a while, so I have tried pureeing turkey bacon or canadian bacon and love them both! I'm still on soft foods, but am following my doc and nuts directions.
