No Never!
Bypass...more invasive, more risky...malnutrition possible
Sleeve...simpler surgery, similar weightloss results to bypass...

Good luck with whatever path you choose=)

My insurance only covered the LapBand and RnY (Bypass) as well....but, I wanted VSG.  I was denied but I appealed for the VSG and WON!!!!  Don't settle b/c insurance will only cover one or the other.  Decide on what YOU want and what is best for you and make your decision that way...then go to the insurance company and appeal if you have to.  Good luck!!!

There's no appealing with Tricare. I have over 10 friends across the nation, military wives who have battled Tricare for VSG and even taken it to Congressional Complaint levels with a big fat denial.

Unfortunately, our "cadillac plan" that everyone thinks we have isn't so cadillac. It's gov't ran insurance and it's tough to get stuff approved even on appeal, with peer to peer review.

I only know a couple of women(both husband's are retired so their plan is different), have been able to get it covered.

our insurance only covered the band or bypass...I went self-pay in mexico but an amazing surgeon (DR. Alvarez) and I don't regret it for a nanosecond!!

less than 6 months post op, no complications, I feel FANTASTIC (look it too!) and I only have around 20 more lbs that I want to lose and I'm wearing a size NINE in jeans. yah...the sleeve is wonderful!

And I'm like the other poster, I wouldn't get bypass...I'd just stay fat.
