post VSG general diet info? is there a good book?
Hi everyone, I have picked a surgeon (Dr Kelly in TJ) and applied for a passport and am in the process of picking a date for surgery and getting time off work to recover. I am VERY excited and can't wait to be on the other side..
What I need from y'all is some help with nutrition/diet info. I am not getting the benefit of a NUT and my health insurance unfortunately will not cover ANYTHING diet related, not even nutritional guidance. (you'd think we were past that in this day and age eh? lol) I see many posts on here about which protein drinks y'all like, and who likes what protein bar etc.. but can any of you recommend a good book or a place to get BASIC info for what kind of diet I should be eating/drinking after surgery? Dr Kelly's office has already sent me some info about the immediate post-op plan (clear liquids etc) but I feel kind of "in the dark" about what comes afterward.. as in long term afterwards.. what to expect for life.. basically I need a plan to stick to.
I feel like obviously I do not have a good handle on nutrition/ healthy eating habits in general or I probably wouldn't be scheduling myself to have my body surgically altered LOL and I REALLY want to do this 'right'. I feel like this is my shot at being healthy. I'm not aiming for 'skinny' (altho I wouldn't turn it down lol) but I want HEALTH in my life. I know you all can relate because I've been reading all your posts.. ya, I am one of 'those' people who come on here for months lurking and reading and comparing surgeries etc... and now I'm ready to jump in and admit I need help.. Any and all advice is welcome
THANK YOU!

My daughter just returned 7/25 from Dr. Garcia in TJ he works with Dr. Kelly, she had rave reviews for the facility and whole process in TJ. If you surf this site daily you will get the most priceless advice. Just remember lots of water, 80-100 g of protein, under 40 carbs and exercise daily. Thats it pretty much in a nutshell!
Take a look at these FAQs
