I had mine last Wed. And I too was so freaked out. I mean to the point were I thought I would cancel the whole surgery because of how scared I was for the endoscope. But it turned out to be NOTHING. It was like a great nap. I was in the GI part of the hospital for a total of 2 hours but most of that was prep stuff and waiting around for my turn. One they started to sedate  me it was over and I was heading home in like 45 minutes. I woke up while being wheeled into the recovery room and asking,"that was it?" The nursed laughed and said,"that's it." I fell back asleep for maybe 10 more minutes, the nurse gave me some apple juice. My throat did not hurt at all, I was worried about that. I left and my mom and I want out to lunch. I was a little tired the rest of the day, kinda felt like you do when you only get a few hours of sleep at night. And by early evening I felt totally normal again. It really no big deal.

Congrats....it sounds like you are on your way!

I have a question I hope someone can answer.

I'm new here, but reading and learning a lot    I had my consult on 7/24 where I had blood drawn and haven't had any other appointments.  I was surprised when I received a call last week scheduling an endoscopy next Tuesday but they said it was part of the pre op procedure.  I just didn't expect it to be first, figured it would be a couple months away or right before surgery.

Do doctor's normally do this procedure first to make sure there are no problems?

My tests were all scheduled at my convienence so the order was left up to me.
My surgeon said it didn't matter the time frame or order but within 6 months for all my tests.

I'm guessing your surgeon sets up the order. Or perhaps your insurance?
