Even since before wls, I have always had a hard time sleeping. I mean, I can try and go to bed at 10pm and will end up tossing and turning and actually falling asleep until 2am. I always assumed it had to do with my weight because my asthma would also act up when I would lay down. Well now 40lbs lighter, I no longer have to use my inhaler at night or have a hard time breathing, but I STILL can not fall asleep!!! Well, Let me add, My MIND cant stop thinking of all kinds of things when I am in bed, maybe anxiety insomnia? Well, I have had this problem for way too long and I am tired of waking up every morning with a headache or soo tired from the lack of sleep. It hasnt been too bad lately cause i am still off work so if i want to I can just go back to bed after dropping my kids off school and get more rest. BUT, I go back to work next Tuesday, and I want to get into a routine of getting enough sleep and waking up refreshed and well rested at 6am. Believe me, I have tried most samples of sleeping meds like Ambien, Dalmane, Lunesta and I HALLUCINATE with every single one!!! Back in the day, I could just take a lil nyquil and KNOCK OUT, But I am pretty sure it is not sleeve friendly, lol. Thanks for listening

First question - how old is your bed? You may want to invest in a new mattress. Our heavier bodies tend to create canyons in mattresses and that is not helpful for good sleep.

Next - what's your pre-bed routine? I have a brain that likes to keep on truckin' when my body is ready for sleep so I feed it New York Times crossword puzzles and other word games. It focuses the problem solving to one task, and it usually puts me out like a light.

Another 60 pounds and I'll be buying a new Tempurpedic mattress. One that is also a higher profile so the dogs can't sleep on the bed as well!

It is going on 3 years since I have had my mattress. Wish I could afford a sleep number mattress, lol. Before bed I got on my treadmill then took a shower then tried to fall asleep

Don't do treadmill at night, followed by a shower. That means you are ready for an exciting day of lot of stuff to do!

Read, do crosswords, knit - something low key and quiet. If you're an evening shower person, take a shower well before bedtime.

Have you tried Melatonin?  There are a couple of liquids out there and a few pills.  Maybe talk to your doctor and see if there is one that he recommends.

Hello Wildcat, Thank you for the melatonin recommendation, I bought the gummies at cvs and took 2 last nite and they worked great! I didn't hallucinate, but I heard my hubby call my name loud and clear and he was asleep! Lol. Thank you once again. I was able to wake up at 6am and feel well rested with no headache! Yay

I find I have the same problem and what has helped me more than anything is a sound machine. I know it sounds funny but if I can concentrate on the sounds instead of on what is running through my head it helps me center myself and sleep. I am very picky about what I play though because anything with a beat or any kind of repetetive noise drives me bonkers. I have to sleep to either the sound of a fan or ambient music, and even then I am picky it can't have any kind of rythem for me to follow. I found all this out in the spa one time while getting a facial and it works like magic even in hotels.

The other thing I find that helps is combining medititaion with it. Not the who eat love pray kind of meditation but a simple one where I picture building a brick wall that shuts out all the outside noise and thoughts. I know it sounds silly but it is my mind that keeps me awake and finding ways to shut it down seem to work.

Thanks for the tip. If it were up to me I would fall asleep to the sounds of Enya but my hubby gets annoyed with any sounds when he is sleeping and I can't do headphones cause they bother my ears after awhile. I will try your meditation idea. Thanks
