Lately all the talk has been about Andrea losing weight! Honestly all I feel like is like a deflated beach ball, LOL Anyways the women at work won’t stop. Besides all the comments, this is the 4th person that has seriously taken me aside and asked me and the second one to do it via IM at work, Here’s how you weed out the serious ones!

Great answer! That is my plan as well. I don't have a surgery date yet (should by Monday), but I've only told 3 family members, and two close friends I'm having the surgery. At work, I'm telling my boss, in order to take a week out of work, everyone else will think I'm on vacation. and I've already thought about my answer when I start dropping weight, and it's exactly the same as yours! Good job!

Honestly, I don't know what I am going to say when people start to notice that don't already know I've had WLS. I think it will depend on the person like you were saying. You can tell the ones that are just poking around and nosey and the ones that really care and want to know.
Everyone at my work knows because I took a month off work. I have a physical job grooming dogs. I was pleasantly surprised with the initial reaction. One younger gay man I work with came up and just hugged me almost in tears he was so excited for me. He's experienced obesity and managed to lose 100 lbs on his own in the past. That left me speechless. Others have just been curious about the process and the surgery part. So that world I think will be okay.
I have upteen clients who I groom their dogs regularly. There WILL be questions! For taking time off I just said I was taking a sabatical at what is usually the slowest time of the year to do things with my family...not entirely untrue. I am doing things with my family. I probably won't say much other than thanking them for noticing and general responses like that...mostly because I don't have the time to get into long conversations with every client about the topic of WLS. I'm already one of the slowest groomers in the shop!
I think my concern (warrented or not) is with this crazy gymnastics world my daughters (16 and 7) are in. Gymnastics moms are an interesting bunch. I love the gym and the coach that owns the gym (and my girls have basically grown up with her). She knows and she's great. I'm the VP of the high school gymnastics team booster club. The president of the club knows and is great. But there is only one other team mom that I know for sure knows (she's great too) because i told her. There might be others that know through the grapevine (namely their daughters have talked to mine) but no one has said anything. People are funny...I guess I will be taking it one person at a time! But there are so many...I have two daughters in two totally different levels with two totally different circles of people. These people notice everything and aren't afraid to speak their mind. It will be interesting to say the least.
Love your response to your coworker! I think this kind of thing worries me more than the surgery it's self. Did she take you up on the offer to work out with you?
