Day 2 After Surgery - Headache from H*ll
I used to suffer from migraines and I have had several surgeries that I got headaches after the surgery. I agree that it is stress an probably the way your neck is during the surgery.
Neck massage and ice helps. Good luck to you I am waiting for a surgery date for VSG. Please keep
posting your progress. You will be in my prayer for a speedy recovery....Barbara from Tracy, CA

One of the reasons for putting you on a presurgery liquid diets, other to
shrink the liver, is to put you thru withdrawl before surgery. As much as
I hated the diet, I was thru the headache form He77 well before surgery.
It was a killer kicking the caffine and carbs.
I just did another no carb this past week to break my addiction and I
was crying from the headache and shaking.
Also walk as much as you can to clear everthing out.
Take care and get feeling better soon!
Finally feeling some relief and I'm convinced it's the nerve damage in my neck. I have nerve damage that the doctors originally suspected was carpal tunnel, but it's nerve damage from being overworked. (Thanks Boss!) But the nerve damage runs from my knuckles to my elbow to my shoulder to just under my right ear. I've been sleeping on my back and my left side and for whatever reason, shifted to my right side last night. Head is MUCH better this morning. The hot shower and double dose of pain meds may have played a role as well. Whatever the case, it still feels somewhat like the remnants of a "charlie horse" in my head, but it's so much more tolerable than yesterday.
I wasn't aware of the double intention of the pre-diet, but it makes sense. I followed it as closely as possible, but admittedly, I did cheat. Not bad, but enough that it has me wondering. There were other things going on in my life last week that were tremendously stressful and my nerves were just destroyed. The few carbs I had may have helped with calming my nerves, but it may be what made me pay so dearly in the first days after surgery! So if you're reading this and haven't had your surgery, take note! That pre-diet is IMPORTANT!!

Could very well be. Every time they came in, they had six or seven syringes full of meds. I quit even asking because there were so many. Now I have a minor case of phlebitis in the vein where they had my IV because of how much was pushed through it. One more day and they would have had to start a new IV for sure. I suppose a little pain in my vein is better than sitting there hurting though! As odd as it seems, apple juice is helping. Tiny sips. Little by little, I'm improving. (And thanking God my mom is here to help me through this!)
